I stayed here for 4 days in january with my husband and his sister, and we loved it. From the first step into this magic place we felt more than welcome!! Entering a small bar, with just a few tables, so charming that you just have to sit down and have a glass of wine. The wine selection is great, the food is fantastic if you ordere from the menue, maybe a bit too boring when having half pension included, but the hospitality made it up for it...
Will definately come back and stay in Room 1 , great beds, linen, duvets and pillows, and the spa... great after a day out in the off-piste!!

There is no more romantic hotel as this hotel. Only 10 rooms. Beautifull building. Friendly staff and owner. Reasonale price. I love it. You can hear your neighboors would be the only disadvantage but I think this is the charm of an old building.

Absolutely top notch! Very petit and a genuine place to stay at. The best restaurant in the village they say and I can just agree. The hotel is just what you can expect from an Alp village. The staff is very friendly and it feels like they really care. We had breakfast and dinner every day at the hotel and lunch in the slopes. The walls are thin, but on the other hand the people that stays here are not the party animals, so it's no big deal. The sauna is very small and fits for 3 persons, but at least they have one. It is also a shower by the sauna and in our room we only had a bath tub. The room (no. 1) we had was quite large and we had an extra bed since we were 3 persons.

This hotel could hardly be better: it's beautiful, in the style of a 19th century mountain hut, yet the bathrooms are clean and neat- and the rooms are warm in winter. The team combine warmth with efficiency. The half pension diet left us with little room for lunch, despite ski-ing hard every day. (The breakfast was decidedly un-Italian: croissant, cereals, cake, bread, jam, eggs, ham & cheese).

Practical points: it's a 10 minute walk from the lift. If you were going to walk with all ski-ing kit, that would be a nuisance. But you can hire warmed lockers from SportHaus in Alagna, leave your ski kit in the locker overnight, and return from the slopes, slip on something sensible and stroll back to the hotel: perfect.

We stayed in the room called "Privato"- without a number. It had two beds in one room (for children), a corridor and then another large bedroom with a comfortable double bed. It suited us perfectly- except that there was no view of the sky. In February this didn't matter. An alternative for families with children would be a larger room, with larger windows with a view, but the children's beds would be in the same bedroom....

In short, we'd definitely return if we came back to Alagna- and we're generally pretty fussy....

We have just returned from a week of hiking in the Piemontese mountains and have stayed in a number of very good places. But I must say: None as fabulous, as this one.

What can I tell you? Is it, because this hotel is located on one of the most beautiful spots along the Walsertrail? Is it, because it‘s family run? Is it, because the house is a wooden construction, light and airy, ancient, but fitted with comfortable new beds and luxurious bathroom fixtures? Is it, because the whole place oozes happiness?

Probably everything together. I can only tell you, this place is addictive. We‘ll definitely be back one day.

I can’t say anything else that I am really in love with this place. Viola- was so kind to help me with the booking. So warm welcome.
The hotel is situated outside of Alagna center but this is what it makes even more magic. The hotel is surrounded with very old and typical houses. Really nice atmosphere.
And if you’ll decide to have a dinner there - you will enter in warm and nice restaurant, where you will feel like a home. Beautiful place with a very good cuisine.

Just love it.

I travel a lot and this will remain one of my favourite places.

The hotel is nice but what makes it perfect are very kind people who work there..

I will absolutely come back

A perfect accommodation spot in Alagna - we stayed four nights with catered breakfast and dinner. Every meal was absolutely delicious. The staff were so warm, friendly and helpful. It felt very Italian and not touristy - perfect for an authentic experience. You can order caffè macchiatos and spritz at the bar and chat away to the staff / guests. It's a lovely village and the bus pulls up right outside in the carpark to take you to the gondola etc. I would recommend this place highly and we were very sad to leave!

We booked the Montagna di Luce on a recommendation from a friend and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is full of character and beautifully maintained. Our rooms in the eaves were very comfortable and our children (aged 7 and 5) loved the cosiness of it. We stayed half board which suited us perfectly. There was plenty to choose from at breakfast and there were some real highlights in the evening set menu, particularly in the puddings. Our kids are not fussy eaters and enjoyed the food but if yours are picky you might possibly find you have a problem. The staff are very welcoming and could not do enough to make our stay comfortable. They also made the children feel really welcome. The hotel is slightly out of Alagna but the regular shuttle bus service into town and up to the Wold nursery slopes served us well. We rarely waited more than five minutes. Being out of town meant no nightlife(perfect for us) and undisturbed sleep!
Overall Montagna di Luce is fantastic value for money and a memorable place to stay. We are certainly planning to return next year.

very nice location just out from Alagna in a lovely little Vals village. We have been warmly welcome from the host and we had a very nice suite with a balcony. Also the breakfast was home made and very nice. I definitely recommend it for families and couples.

We stayed at this hotel recently, and overall it's fine. Breakfast was included in the price, but the selection was very limited and - to be frank - the number of flies flying around the breakfast room was unpleasant.

Dinner, however, was outstanding. Really delicious and fresh food. Pleasant staff who all spoke at least some english.

Room Tip: Top floor will be the quietest, but narrow stairs to get there.
