Some reviewers have described this place as "Tired", or in need of a makeover, but I think they are missing the point. Sure, it could do with smarter management and attention to detail, but part of its charm is the very absence of the finely honed five-star smoothness of the chic luxury establishments we had been staying in, and went...

This old tea-planters' bungalow transports one back to perhaps the 1930s when the British family would play tennis on their grass courts and take afternoon tea in their shady verandah area. There are old black-and-white photos of the Bostocks and the Lushingtons on the walls of each room, and one almost feels one has met them personally! There is great...

It is almost as if the family has just stepped out for a little while and mightop back at any time. Their family pictures are on the walls and their books are on the bookshelves. The whole p lace has been lovingly restored with the most decadent fourposter beds shrouded in mosquito netting I have ever seen and great bathrooms....

Kirchayn is a part of the old Aislaby estate , retained after the 1973 Communist government nationalisation of large tea estates ( along with the managers bungalow and 50 acres from the original several hundreds ) only because the Bostock family ( British) ,who still own the place, designated it as a guesthouse to enable them to hang on to...

This is the most authentic "colonial" experience of my life. One feels like being transported inside plantation life, circa 1930, with abundant and eager, if idiosyncratic, service and terrible plumbing. The bungalow is kept impeccably clean but is tattered to the extreme, with stained carpets and threadbare upholstery. The grounds and gardens are kept impeccably, but certainly do to the...

My favorite part of the holiday was waking up and looking out at all the tea. It was amazing. The bungalow is surrounded by tea and if u take a short walk you would be in their little farm where they have chickens etc. The food is excellent - so not for those on a diet. You just end up...

We spent 3 nights at the Bungalow. The setting of the bungalow is excellent with great ambience of tranquility. However, during the time when the bungalow is full - like during our stay - there was noise at night and being woken up in middle of the night by guests looking for their colleagues in our room. The staff were...

This pretty bungalow is hidden away up a long winding lumpy road, through a tea estate. It is well worth the drive. This is an old Hill Station, which has been turned into attractive accommodation. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and still maintained in the "English" style, with rose beds all round the bungalow, a lovely swimming pool and some...

I would definitely give this place a miss if you are a couple traveling through Sri Lanka there are many better suited and the price/value ratio on this accommodation is way off. Although this is an absolutely gorgeous property with beautiful gardens, the inside however is far from being a luxury property and in need of some serious cleaning and...

We (family with a 2yr old and 5yr old) stayed here for 2 nights after a flight from Singapore and very long drive from Colombo (I would not recommend coming here in the same day as flying in - it is about 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 hours from Colombo even with an experienced Sri Lankan driver. The true charm...
