We had a short stay at Bandarawela Hotel few weeks ago, we selected the hotel as we stayed in the same place 9 years ago, and found it charming with old architecture and its colonial style. During our recent stay, we found the hotel, little run down, and not clean. Rooms were average. This hotel needs improvement in services and cleanliness. However, the staff was fabulous, very friendly and quickly attended to all our needs. Promptly responded to our queries. Food was nice and had a good healthy variety too.

This is a hotel from the english colonial times that is being successfully maintained uptodate. The place has safeguarded the vintage looks very well. Although situated in the middle of bandarawela town it is a very calm and quiet place. The restaurant has an ala carte menu with wide range of options and the food is delicious. The staff is very nice and attentive. The place is very clean and well kept. The price is on the high side but it comes with the quality and the history of the place. Definitely worth the visit.

It is sad to see the way of the service of this hotel. Waiter’s doesn’t know how to speak to their guest too. We ordered coffee, cups were not cleaned at all and coffee was not warm. We asked for tea pot and water again, waiter was asking why didn’t you place the order at once. It’s pathetic to see this type of service from Aitken Spence Hotels.

This was our overnight stop after getting off the train from Nuwara Eliya. Nice building and the room was Ok. It was very old fashioned with a bathroom down a step but with the washbasin in the end of the bedroom area. Food was good.
