It's long haul from Kochi to the Windermere Estate so be prepared for around 4 hours up the winding road that serves communities along the way. We were welcomed on arrival and everything about the estate was explained personally to us. The staff, all male, were very attentive and friendly, the laundry service was really good, being returned the same...

The Windermere Plantation sits at 5000 feet, so the trip from sea level up to the tea plantations was really great, the scenery changes as you drive, and looks almost like Scotland. The staff were great, and we had some lovely meals in the restaurant. Everybody eats at 7.30pm, so it brings everybody together. Quite cool at night, because of...

We stayed here for two nights in February and really enjoyed our time here. Fabulous views over the surrounding countryside and spectacular views of the sunrise and sunset from the top of the enormous rock viewpoint. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were excellent. We had some lovely walks from the property and the afternoon tea was a...

Relaxed hotel, very kind and caring staff, lovely gardens for an afternoon tea. Great view over Munnar. Nice to stay out of the town but easily accessible. Spice gardens near by very interesting and worth a trip.

This was my favourite accommodation during a recent 3 week trip to India. The planters cottages are delightful and set around the grounds. The views, especially from the lookout point are magnificent. The walk through the cardamom plantation was so interesting and also very welcome after a long drive from Kochi. As a family run concern, our interest in the...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and experience at Windermere. The location and scenery was breathtaking, but what really stood out was the friendly staff and the personal service they provided. The delicious food and the walk around the estate were real highlights too. Do be aware, though, that the accommodation is rather simple and dated in places. We suffered from...

We stayed here for two nights. Everyone is very friendly and helpful - food is good, location is good - the plantation walk is very interesting, both for the interest of seeing how spices and coffee are grown and for the birds and the giant squirrels. Even in February it gets quite cool in the evening so a pullover or...

This is a lovely spot on a cardoman plantation. The food was good and the sevice and helpfulness of the staff was the best we encountered in a 4 week trip to India. We strongly recommend a trip to Eravikulam National Park to see the rare endangered species of wild goat (the Tahr) and to enjoy the spectacular views -...

We spent a night here and were impressed with the location and hotel. Room quite basic but large with a lovely balcony to enjoy the view. Wifi fine in public areas. Food was excellent, really good set dinner menu. Breakfast was plentiful, and wonderful to eat outside. Masala dhosa was great, just don't make my mistake of ordering an omelette...

We stayed here for one night, on our tour of South India. Staff, as everywhere we experienced, were pleasant and helpful. On arrival, we were upgraded to a large, comfortable room with balcony. The rooms are all in separate semi-detached cottages. It is cooler in the mountains and no air-conditioning is required at night. Although it was still pleasantly warm...
