We spent a night here and were impressed with the location and hotel. Room quite basic but large with a lovely balcony to enjoy the view. Wifi fine in public areas. Food was excellent, really good set dinner menu. Breakfast was plentiful, and wonderful to eat outside. Masala dhosa was great, just don't make my mistake of ordering an omelette...

We stayed here for one night, on our tour of South India. Staff, as everywhere we experienced, were pleasant and helpful. On arrival, we were upgraded to a large, comfortable room with balcony. The rooms are all in separate semi-detached cottages. It is cooler in the mountains and no air-conditioning is required at night. Although it was still pleasantly warm...

A lovely place, full of character and charm, a peaceful sanctuary set in beautiful plantation and forest landscape. (Actually there is currently some construction work going on nearby so there was a bit of banging noise in the daytime but presumably it's a temporary state of affairs and fortunately there was no heavy machinery). Guided walk through the cardamon planation...

Unfortunately our schedule only allowed us one night at the Windermere, but we’ve already pencilled it in for our next visit. After been shown to Cardamom a, one of the garden rooms, we immediately liked what we found. A very comfortable, uniquely furnished double, with plenty of storage space, a safe that worked and a large shower room – OK,...

The Windermere is situated in a really beautiful spot, with great views over the plantations. The rooms are large and comfortable, not overly luxurious but more simply decorated in a homestay fashion. The plantation estate walk was interesting and gave us a chance to see some of the crops that grow around the estate. This isn't the place for people...

We have just stayed here for two nights. It is a lovely, peaceful place to relax and the experience is enhanced by impeccable service and lovely food. Our room was just fine and fulfilled our expectations. There was plenty of hot water provided we remembered to turn the heater on. We went for the afternoon walk around the cardamom plantation...

We stayed for 2 nights at this retreat/hotel and the scenery on the way and at the location was stunning. The Windermere Estate is quite remote and once there, unless you have transport, you are totally reliant on the amenities at the location. We arrived early afternoon and were able to get a sandwich lunch, which was perfectly adequate and...

Stunning views and delightful staff but this hotel is really very basic and that is probably generous. Really nothing to do locally, room furniture pretty utilitarian, limited hot water, no alcohol, poor choice at breakfast, lunch is either same curry as dinner or toasted sandwiches, dinner is set menu. It wouldn't take a huge amount of thought or investment to...

This is a rustic wilderness retreat near Munnar on the Western Ghats that is also a cardamom and coffee plantation. We had a charming room in the cottage building for 2 nights. It had a balcony big enough to sit on with nice views of the plantation. We were given a tour of the plantation shortly after arriving, followed by...

We had a half day and night at the Windermere and enjoyed the walk through the plantation, the BBQ entrees and the large room. It was what we were looking for but none of the party was overwhelmed by the experienced.
