Hotel is located on the private beach and each room has a perfect view. If you enjoy swimming, snorkeling and kayaking choose this hotel. They have a good selection of snorkeling gear, flippers, reef shoes and kayaks for guests to use. The beach is safe for swimming. You have to be careful when selecting a hotel in Raro as some do not have access to nice sandy beaches. There are many rocks and corals. The beach in front of Moana Sands hotel is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. You can see fish even standing in the water or kayaking. We saw a turtle from our kayak. The rooms are spacious and clean. They have a small kitchen with a fridge, jug, toaster, plates. We enjoyed having lunches on our balcony. The hotel restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. Continental breakfast is included in price. Cooked breakfast meals are about $12. Hire a car, so you can explore the island. We used Island Car Hire and they were cheap and reliable. We would definitely select the same hotel if we come back. For younger people I would suggest Muri Beach Club hotel in Muri.

We booked 7 days here and my wife, my 4-year old daughter and myself had a relaxing and memorable time. Our room was on the first floor near the outside dining area which made it easy to access the beach as well as shuttle a tray from the kitchen. The breakfast buffet is adequate enough but if you want anything else other than cereal, toast or tropical fruits you’ll have to order a large carte from the menu. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They’ll help you book a tour or get a rental car.

The location of the property is perfect with the beach in front and options for meals within walking distance such as Charlies or the garden cafe.

The beach in front is excellent for children and the ocean has adequate marine life to snorkel or go for a quick kayak tour.

We had such a memorable time that we are considering coming back again next year.

This hotel has no pool. Instead at the front of the property the beautiful lagoon awaits. Clear, turquoise waters, warm and inviting.
The beds and pillows are SO comfortable.
The staff are amazing; helpful, friendly; efficient.
There are only 17 rooms, all facing the sea, you can’t go wrong.

There is a restaurant and bar, newly opened after Covid-19.
The restaurant is not open Saturday lunch and dinner. So for those times you will need to go further afield. Charlie’s is also closed on Saturday (and Sunday I think). You have to make your way by taxi or island bus to one of the many restaurants in the Muri lagoon area. Or walk along the beach (50 mins)
Also next door is Little Polynesian which we haven’t tried. They don’t allow children there though.

There are a few kayaks and snorkelling equipment available. No stand up paddle boards that I can see.

The wifi is weak and is $10 per 2.5gb. You are much better off buying a local sim (Vodafone only!) the price is NZ$69 for 10gb. It’s a much stronger signal.

All in all, an extremely satisfying place to stay. Although if you are a family with small kids you might prefer anywhere near the Muri lagoon.

We just arrived back from a lovely week at the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel. The entrance and foyer look a little dated but don't judge before you have seen the rest. The rooms are light, comfortable and updated with comfortable bed, bathroom with lots of hot water and a kitchenette with kettle, fridge etc but it is the view from the room that is magic. The crystal clear lagoon is right in front of you with a very easy walk across the sand to the water and some good, safe snorkelling. Each suite has either a balcony (upstairs) or a patio (downstairs) just for you. This is a very small hotel with only a few rooms (15 or 16, I didn't count) which means it is very quiet, no noise or crowds. If you want loud music and crowds this isn't for you but it does have a good cocktail bar and great value Happy Hour drinks. There is a restaurant overlooking the water where you can watch the sunset with excellent food although it is also conveniently close to many other places to eat. The only drawback is that it doesn't have a pool. We were informed that we could use the pool at their sister properties but with the lagoon so close we didn't bother finding out if this was the case and we didn't miss the pool. The staff were also very helpful and friendly. I have been home for a week now and I am ready to go back.

We just returned from 8 days in Rarotonga stayed at Moana Sands. The location is perfect beachfront on Titikeveka beach great for snorkelling beautiful white Sandy beach. Due to covid and staff issues the restaurant at hotel only open for breakfast. Would have been good to know this prior so we could have been prepared with food. The hotel were great and compensated us with a discount on our accomodation. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the rooms cleaned each day except weekends. Charlie’s is up the road walking distance so great option for dinner. Food was fresh and tasty. Unfortunately due to a weather event Charlie’s closed day 4 of our stay. You need to book in advance for dinner most restaurants. Overall would recommend this hotel.

Absolutely loved our stay here.
We believe the best location on the island.
All staff were fantastic.
Marshall the groundskeeper was very helpful with anything outdoors.
Merylin for room services was incredible. She even did our muddy washing when we were in a rush.
Reception staff were extremely helpful and full of information.
The rooms were very comfortable and basic. Full range of kitchen goods to cater for in room easy meals.
We had an early morning flight.
The ladies prepared a full breakfast tray for us the night before.
If you don’t want all the glitz and glamor of a fancy resort... this is the place for you.
10/10

This was the second time we stayed at the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel and it was beautiful as usual though the buildings seemed tired and could do with a coat of paint. This hotel has no pool but a gorgeous beach for swimming and snorkeling, gear is provided if you don't have your own. A beautiful spot and walking distance to a couple of tasty food spots. Our room was lovely, clean and refreshed most days.

A huge Thank you to April in the restaurant for making our stay extra special, Ryan and Mary Rose always with a smile and a Kia Oriana for us. We loved being your models xx

Moana Sands Rarotonga offers a beautiful beachfront location, allowing guests to enjoy stunning views of the ocean. The resort also features amenities such as swimming pools, close by restaurants, and activities for children. We booked our stay through Bartercard and really enjoyed. Staff are amazing! We had the most amazing time here. Everything about this hotel was perfect. Being our first time in Rarotonga, I did a lot of research on the hotels, beaches, snorkelling etc. And this was by far the best spot. The hotel was clean, quiet, and in the perfect location. The rooms are basic but more than enough for what we wanted. We booked the adults only room on the top floor and would highly recommend as the view was incredible. The food at the hotel was delicious. The breakfast included was a basic continental, more than enough choice, and it was so fresh. We also had a full English breakfast at the hotel and it was amazing. The hotel staff were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for us. Ryan’s cocktails were the best! We will be staying here again on our next holiday to Rarotonga!

I’ve never been one for big resorts, much preferring a more ‘boutique’ experience. The Moana Sands Hotel (one of its three beachfront properties) with around just 17 studios, was perfect for us. No need for a pool when the gorgeous lagoon is literally at your front door, along with a fleet of kayaks. The setting is just beautiful. While we were there, the lunchtime and evening restaurant had not yet re-opened - the last two years has been difficult for many of the Island’s establishments and staffing not always easy (there are alternatives not far away). The breakfasts were lovely though, and the staff low key and fabulous. Warmly recommend!

What is the security like at the hotel?

Kia Orana keeweetra, To date we have no security issues at the Hotel. As Maggie pointed out above she felt safe and had no issues other than the parking and that worked out. We have Staff living on site and they do a security check a couple of times during the night. There is also a Community Watch group the does regular patrols around the Village during the night. I trust this puts your mind at rest. Regards Wayne. Wayne Sheard General Manager.

Kia Orana Hanna_Marton, Pacific Resort Hotel Group properties swimming pools are reserved for the use of in-house guests at each respective property. For properties outside of our group, we would kindly advise you to get in touch with them directly as each property is likely to have their own swimming pool policies. A complimentary Kids Club service is exclusive to Pacific Resort Rarotonga guests, with the exception of Te Manava Luxury Villa & Spa guests, who have full access to Pacific Resort Rarotonga’s resort facilities, including the swimming pool, restaurant, beach hut and kids club. While Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel does not have a Kids Club facility, complimentary snorkel equipment and kayaks are provided for the enjoyment of in-house guests. We are happy to say that our lagoons are very safe! We do however recommend that you practise good water safety at all times, and although rare, the presence of stonefish is possible, therefore we advise our guests to wear reef shoes. We look forward to welcoming you in paradise soon! Meitaki, Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel
