Thank you Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel for giving our 1st Rarotonga experience an amazing week. Ryan, April and all the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. The food was delicious, fresh and a good variety on offer. Lovely rooms, great to have air con in each room. You don’t need a pool when the beach is right at your door and the water was beautiful. Snorkelling gear available at no extra cost. Highly recommend this hotel

This was the second time we stayed at the Moana Sands Beachfront Hotel and it was beautiful as usual though the buildings seemed tired and could do with a coat of paint. This hotel has no pool but a gorgeous beach for swimming and snorkeling, gear is provided if you don't have your own. A beautiful spot and walking distance to a couple of tasty food spots. Our room was lovely, clean and refreshed most days. A huge Thank you to April in the restaurant for making our stay extra special, Ryan and Mary Rose always with a smile and a Kia Oriana for us. We loved being your models xx

I’ve never been one for big resorts, much preferring a more ‘boutique’ experience. The Moana Sands Hotel (one of its three beachfront properties) with around just 17 studios, was perfect for us. No need for a pool when the gorgeous lagoon is literally at your front door, along with a fleet of kayaks. The setting is just beautiful. While we were there, the lunchtime and evening restaurant had not yet re-opened - the last two years has been difficult for many of the Island’s establishments and staffing not always easy (there are alternatives not far away). The breakfasts were lovely though, and the staff low key and fabulous. Warmly recommend!

This hotel has no pool. Instead at the front of the property the beautiful lagoon awaits. Clear, turquoise waters, warm and inviting. The beds and pillows are SO comfortable. The staff are amazing; helpful, friendly; efficient. There are only 17 rooms, all facing the sea, you can’t go wrong. There is a restaurant and bar, newly opened after Covid-19. The restaurant is not open Saturday lunch and dinner. So for those times you will need to go further afield. Charlie’s is also closed on Saturday (and Sunday I think). You have to make your way by taxi or island bus to one of the many restaurants in the Muri lagoon area. Or walk along the beach (50 mins) Also next door is Little Polynesian which we haven’t tried. They don’t allow children there though. There are a few kayaks and snorkelling equipment available. No stand up paddle boards that I can see. The wifi is weak and is $10 per 2.5gb. You are much better off buying a local sim (Vodafone only!) the price is NZ$69 for 10gb. It’s a much stronger signal. All in all, an extremely satisfying place to stay. Although if you are a family with small kids you might prefer anywhere near the Muri lagoon.

I booked a mani-pedi. The beautician met me at reception, she was soft spoken an lovely. I followed her around the resort until we arrived at a normal hotel room that had been set up for use. There was no atmosphere. It was a sterile hotel room. A couple of small plants, two small flowers on a desk. No relaxing music, in fact they had on video hits on the television which was a little grinding and distracting. There were no candles, no oil burners or diffusers, there was no relaxing smell. There was a staff member that was on her phone and also moved around a bit but wasn't doing anything. The staff member that was doing my service was lovely, it took two hours for her to do my nails and feet. Althought the process was nice, the end result wasn't professional, my cuticles were slightly pushed back but not removed, the massage was brief (although she did have very relaxing angel hands for the massage component), they didn't have a professional pedicure chair so she had to shift around a lot and my feet were briefly soaked in an off the shelf foot massager that you can find in anyhome. She didn't remove any of the dead skin off my feet, which is the main reason I get a pedicure. Again, I would like to emphasize that she was lovely and her massage and gentleness was relaxing. It just didn't seem worth the fee of $110NZ.

No pool. No bar except from 11am to 1pm. No TV except new zealand parliament channel. No restaurant. No compendium in the room. Booked beachfront and ended up on the second floor with only a beach front view.

We just returned from 8 days in Rarotonga stayed at Moana Sands. The location is perfect beachfront on Titikeveka beach great for snorkelling beautiful white Sandy beach. Due to covid and staff issues the restaurant at hotel only open for breakfast. Would have been good to know this prior so we could have been prepared with food. The hotel were great and compensated us with a discount on our accomodation. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the rooms cleaned each day except weekends. Charlie’s is up the road walking distance so great option for dinner. Food was fresh and tasty. Unfortunately due to a weather event Charlie’s closed day 4 of our stay. You need to book in advance for dinner most restaurants. Overall would recommend this hotel.

We called ahead (have learnt that this is a good idea if you have to feed kids earlyish). There's a cafe style area next to the road but also a lovely beach front, small restaurant out the front so ask & try your luck (I'm sure in-house guests will get priority but we struck it lucky). Lovely food & cocktails & a lovely waitress. These places are very easy to drive past but are actually little gems. Don't ignore them...

We were on the first floor. The ensuite room was very clean and spacious. We were a few metres from the beach. Easy access. Perfect! Continental Breakfast was included. Staff are friendly, especially Bene and Rupe in the dining room and Leilani at reception. The 80’s music in the dining room was epic, thanks to Bene. Thanku for a lovely stay! 🥰
