My wife and I had the privilege of staying at 'The Little Polynesian' for nine VERY relaxing days during February 2020.

On arrival (a 20-minute transfer from the airport in Avarua), we were met by Meree and Tiree who made us feel very welcome and we immediately felt like it was ‘home away from home’ after Meree’s room orientation.

We stayed in a gorgeous island style beachfront villa that looked out to the beautiful, calm blue and mesmerizing waters of the reef.

The air-conditioned villa was generously sized, very nicely appointed with a king bed, set with quality linen and pillows.

On the lower level, there was generous space, complete with table and several comfortable chairs and a long, cushioned bench on which to sit down, unwind and take in the gorgeous view. There was also a small kitchen sink and bench for making drinks.

But the best place by far was out on the deck looking out to the big blue ocean and be soothed by the sound of breaking waves out on the reef

Our room had plenty of storage space, plus room for two large suitcases to be raised to a comfortable level. Two snorkels and masks are in each room and reef shoes are available from the main desk.

Dual sinks in the bathroom, both and indoor and private outdoor showers and plenty of space to move around.

The Housekeeping Team were just lovely, with big genuine smiles and not at all intrusive.

Each evening, on returning to our villa, we would find that Raj, one of the Team, had magically turned down our beds, refreshed the water, and made it very welcoming.

While the beachfront setting is absolutely idyllic and one of the many jewels in Little Polynesian’s crown, the quality, variety and creativity of the dining experience, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, is equally impressive and yet another ‘jewel’ in that crown.

The breakfast service from Shania and the dinner service from Jiuta and Christian was always excellent. Other front of house staff who excelled were Meree, Marilyn, Suzie and Tiree, all of whom made us feel so genuinely welcome.

We were also delighted when the quietly confident and very competent manager Nan took time to stop by and introduce herself and to check everything was going well – a very nice touch.

Getting around is easy and cheap, with either the clockwise or anti-clockwise bus (NZ$5 one way or $8 return) right at the door. There's just one main road and it's only 32kms around the whole island.

Overall, our experience at ‘The Little Polynesian’ was excellent, and we have no hesitation in recommending it. The Little Polynesian team could not have been more helpful or attentive to our needs. Our stay was memorable for all the very best reasons and we can’t wait to return one day very soon.

So here's a HUGE thank you to each and everyone of 'The Little Polynesian' team, our brand new Pacific ‘home away from home’. (Love you guys *o*)

We had 11 days of relaxation at Little Polynesian. It was just what we needed, a beach front villa steps away from the lagoon - which was perfect. Out last stay here was to the sister property Pacific Resort on Aitutaki and both are great but we liked our time here more. The property is well located only a couple of kms away from Muri where there are other resorts and a few shops. The depth of the water is better here for swimming and aquatic activities but both properties are delightful.

Staff are all amazing and we thank Tutor (who always calls you by name), Sisi, Leba, Tom, Miri and April for such passionate and individual attention. The continental breakfast is included in the rate and is ample and delicious, we had cooked items on a couple of days which were delicious. Dinners were also of very high quality, especially seafood, ika mata, sashimi, parrot fish, mahi mahi and tuna were all really great. We had a minor glitch in a busy night where our lamb rack and fillet came out bearly cooked we suspect as an attempt to look after us promptly as house guests. They were still delicious but not hot.

The room was well equipped, spacious and light in colour, a lot of the Polynesian resorts are in dark wood tones elsewhere. The bathroom like many on the islands had both indoor and outdoor showers and high quality bath products. Housekeeping was good too although you can't choose which time they get to you as they start at one end of the resort and work towards the other end but this is all part of embracing the more leisurely pace of island life. Housekeeping responded to individual requests to customise the room.

Little Polynesian was an ideal place to stay and we looked at a few other properties on the island, we think that this is as stylish as any of them. When you combine the quality of the restaurant I think it would be had to beat in Rarotonga. It is a hard place to leave ! Thanks Chantelle for such a great stay.

First, it’s important to say that this is a very very small resort. So if you are looking for a more classical one, with many different public areas and services, this is not your place.
Reception and restaurant occupy the small central building where also the swimming pool is located, so that all public activities take place here.
The rest of the resort is occupied by the guests bungalows, 10 in front of the beach and 4 just behind.
We booked a 88 sqm bungalow in front of the beach and honestly it was amazing!! We had a small part of the beach just for us, a big terrace facing the sea with sofa and chairs and a small garden in the back with a open air shower. The room itself was huge and super well designed: in term of decoration it was maybe one of the best I have ever seen! And useless to say that it was extremely clean and well maintained.
Service is obviously super good and staff very welcoming.
Breakfast is very complete and good. We had always lunch and dinner there, and the quality of food was very good indeed. Maybe we would have liked a little more choice but, once again, being in such a small resort implies some limitations.
Just to resume, I really recommend this hotel if you want to spend some relaxing days in the island.

From the moment we arrived, Juita and staff were welcoming and friendly with excellent service and smiles.
Our garden bure was spotlessly clean and peaceful. We enjoyed the sun loungers in our pretty garden. A great place for an afternoon siesta! The beachfront bures looked amazing right on the beach but were all booked!
Every meal in the restaurant was superb. The staff knew our names from day 1 and remembered our preferences for coffee and drinks etc. The continental breakfast was delicious. Each dinner was first class and deserves every accolade the chef receives.
Shania made our trip with her excellent suggestions for activities and restaurant and even made reservations for us. Her kind friendliness and professionalism was really appreciated. Juita also gave of his best at every opportunity. The staff here are one of the resorts best assets.
The beach here is beautiful and you can swim easily and kayak and snorkel (provided). The pool is perfect also. With only 14 bures, it never feels crowded or noisy. Also being adults only made it a lovely place to relax after a hectic year.

This was a great choice of resort to stay in. The staff were very attentive and the service and food were superb. Most of the serving staff are Fijian and they are incredibly friendly and polite. The room I had was really nice with an exceptional bathroom and additional beautiful outside shower. Gardens were superb with lovely plantings and a real tropical vibe. The highlight is its beach with very swimmable lagoon and the infinity pool is a cool dipping off point afterwards. Food and drinks were well priced and of a high quality. Its the perks that make this place, a beautiful tropical fruit platter each morning and they mix it up too! The cleaning was exceptional with my room cleaned everyday and due to my flight being at 3pm, I was given a late checkout complimentary, great aricon too. I also loved how staff remembered your name and the vibe was very welcoming. The only downside was the bed, which was quite hard to sleep on and the media - a nice tv but bad picture - I blame this on the limited communications options in the Pacific and also who comes on holiday to watch TV? Well when it gets dark at 7pm and the island shuts down after 8. Also its a remote location and you will need to catch the round island buses and/or hire a car/scooter to go anywhere else, although Charlies home of the big fish snadwich (And its big) was only 500m down the road (Slight risk from wandering dogs). Overall they meet your every need and exceed it. This place was brilliant and the grounds were immaculate and beautiful.

We really loved the Little Polynesian. Normally we stay in larger hotels when we are on vacation, but somehow we ended up here.
First, let me say that the people who work here are simply the best! We really felt like we were part of a community and the people really seemed to care about us (or at least they seemed to!). Everyone was so friend and helpful, we really felt cared for.

Our beach front bungalows were great. Very bright and airy with spectacular beachfront views.

The food was delicious whether it be the complimentary tropical breakfast or the lunch and dinner served at the poolside restaurant.

The setting is devine with some of the best views on the island.

Complimentary water crafts are available as are snorkel gear for all guests.

We loved it here and would recommend this resort to anyone who doesn't have children as no kids are allowed.

The thing that makes this place so special are the people. Greg and the staff really looked after us. Special mention has to go to Jiuta and Shania, who greeted us by name with big smiles every day.

The resort was impeccable and the restaurant/bar area was always buzzing with activity. The food was so incredibly delicious that we ate there every night! There was plenty to choose from the menu and the cocktails were amazing!

We loved waking up to the view from our beachfront bungalow and spending time on our deck. Perfect for ordering Room Service and chilling in privacy. The rooms were cleaned and tidied each day.

We really didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. :-)

We stayed here last week 21 -- 26 June in a Beach Front Villa. Everything about our stay was first class. Spotlessly clean + tidy. A special thank you to the staff whom made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Juita, Shania, Christian and their General Manager Nan. The food here is first class and not expensive. We would not hesitate to recommend Little Polynesian Resort for a relaxing holiday near crystal clear waters of the lagoon. the snorkling gear, paddle boards and canoes are all complementary.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Little Polynesian Resort. Our spotless, spacious, well appointed and tastefully furnished villa opened onto a terrace with comfortable beach chairs and was steps away from a sandy beach, raked daily, and the beautifully clear, warm lagoon. The view over the lagoon and out to the reef was fabulous. We dined at the restaurant every night of our stay as the food was so good and we were very impressed with the excellent personal and attentive service provided throughout the resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This really is a very special resort. It is a "Couples Only" resort, and only has a total of 14 units, this means you can really relax and enjoy the peace , tranquility and amazing views.
We were welcomed by management and shown our room, to find a bottle of wine and gifts to celebrate our anniversary .
We had a garden room, spacious and immaculately maintained. The unit has a walled garden back and front so you have total privacy , the only downside is , that the high walls reduce the lovely sea breeze you get with the beach front units.
Dining is at the edge of the pool, overlooking the glorious beach and ocean .
How do we describe the food ? Excellent. I have some diet issues but this was never a problem for the chef and I thank him for that.
Being adult only and small the service is very personal, how lovely to be welcomed by our first name when we came for breakfast or dinner.
So many little things that happened like being given iced water to drink if we were sitting at the edge of the pool. , All the staff were amazing so I wont name the staff individually but they were all wonderful.
Thank you for a holiday we will always remember.

We were there just last week. There are 2 loungers on your private deck overlooking the beach which is literally 5 steps away. They also provide beach towels. The dining area is beautiful, by the infinity pool, overlooking the ocean. There are places in the open air dining area they could set up a romantic dinner. The staff is fantastic and I am sure they would set u your dinner request. It resort only 14 Bungalows so never crowded and very quiet. Also the food at Little Polynesian was delicious. We loved this place.

Hi there, sorry for the late reply. I am not sure what the weather is like in December. I would simply Google it. In September it was just right. Not too hot and not cold.

A car is useful and is easy to hire at the airport but there is a regular bus that does the circuit of the island. Water sports at little poly, snorkel provided and paddle boards and canoes available
