We spent an extended weekend with my family at la Pourvoirie du Cap au Leste two weeks ago and we are keeping an amazing memory of it!

The warm welcoming from the team upon arrival really made a difference and set us right for the duration of the stay! We started with a drink on the terrasse of the main chalet, watching spectacular view of the lake and forests surrounding us and dressed of these typical Canadian red&orange autumn colors..!
We were even more amazed by the lovely decoration touches of our chalet and cozy it felt inside.
As far as food and service, the team is made of young locals that were very qualified and responsive. Food was excellent and rightly priced: try the famous Poutine is a MUST.
There are lots of activities to try out around the property: from fishing to hiking, quad bikes promenades and visits to the farm of deers; as well as fun rides to Chicoutimi to play some curling and converse with the lovely people from Quebec!

Already planning to come back through winter to experience the place with a full snow layer and experience different activities such as snow scooters.

If you want quiet and the great outdoors, this is a fine place. Food is good as is the service. There are good trails for every level. Scenery is great. If you love meat, you will love this place. If you are vegetarian they will accommodate you. Great place to relax.
Thank klodio

Room is nice and view is great but customer service was awful. Overpriced fixed menu meal with unorganized wait staff. Took forever to be served. Customer bills could not be located. Couple near us waited for 20 minutes just to get a menu. The couple beside us returned tier meal as it was overcooked. Customers served their own tea and coffee because no one offered it. We waited 45 minutes between the appetizer and main meal and then noticed that our meals had been sitting in the kitchen within our view for at least 20 minutes. Insult to injury, the gratuity is included.
Retired to bed at 11pm only to be awoken at 1pm to the smoke detector going off in our room. Could not do anything, no one at front desk, smoke detector was very high up in the peak ceiling. Once it stopped, we could not get back to sleep. When we advised the front desk in the morning (after leaving a message in the night when it happened) they reacted by raising their eyebrows....(not even an apology) and handing us our bill for an overpriced, tip-included meal and the sleep that we did not get.

We spent three nights here and we were impressed by the lovely views from our room and the restaurant.
The room itself is basic but that shouldn't be a surprise if you pay attention when booking. The big beds were confortable and our son loved the impressive bunk bed.
The breakfast buffet is reasonably priced but remains unchanged day after day. Some more variety would be welcome.
The main problem we had with this hotel was its location. It is indeed located at the end of a 7 km long gravel road but again, that we knew when we booked. However, we hadn't understood that it was so far from Ste Rose du Nord or any other village. This means that you spend quite a lot of time driving around to visit places. Moreover, we have the impression that the fjord is also easier visited from the other side (Anse St Jean).

Firstly your journey here will be via a long, bumpy, dusty awkward dirt road. Be prepared, Its 10 minutes long and hardly pleasant.
The receptionist may make you wait while he explains in great detail the intricacies of the hotel. No grabbing the keys and running to your room.

Theres no wifi in the rooms, at all, so thats annoying, we had to run on 3G for 2 days.

The only place to eat or drink within 15 miles is at the restaurant/bar, which is generally pretty good but pricey and limited in choice. i.e only one choice : luckily we like fish!

The cabins are nice, the bathroom is very modern and in great condition. Oddly they chose to make wooden doors, which in Canada in the woods, wasnt a great choice. They will certainly let in the cold during the 10 months a year that it isnt summer up here. Ours had a gap at the top and bottom, due to the harsh weather they get up here.

Speaking of weather the wind literally rips through here at night making a tremendous noise, its high up so thats probably why.
Thank John S
