Chateau de Roques although warm and inviting from the outside left us feeling a bit chilly from the lack of hospitality. The staff could take a few lessons on ambiance and warmth from the beautiful fireplace in the dinning room and the charming rooms. Upon arrival they barely spoke to us, leaving us to wonder around the Chateau hoping to...

We stayed at Chateau de Roques for 4 nights (in three separate rooms - our own choice) and overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We used it as a great base to explore Saint-Emilion and surrounds - it is only 11 km from Saint-Emilion's centre. All rooms were very clean and well presented. We stayed in the more modern Comfort room...

I'm french and I don't have an enthusiastic opinion about this hotel. The place is of course beautiful with an old castel located in grapevine fields but unlickily I did not find good care from the owners of the hotel. Welcome is just polite but not agreeable. I was disappointed by the restaurant : the hors d'oeuvre of the children...

We stayed for two nights in a comfort class room number 17 , it was charming and very comfortable. The service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble from the receptionist to the waitress. I found the 16th century creeks all part of the ambiance, and the souffle to die for. Would love to go back tomorrow but will have...

de Roques met and exceeded our expectations. It was clean , freshly renovated and painted. The bonus was the courteous staff who invited us to stay for dinner on the night that we arrived. This place is a great value and I would not hesitate to recommend it.

Stayed for two nights in Room 22 - one of the attic rooms - classified as a comfort room by the hotel. Smallish room but felt cosy and was comfortable. Shower was in need of refurbishment although worked quite well but that was the only negative thing I can say about the hotel. The floors did creak as described in...

We had room 12 too! Not special and the bathroom plumbing leaked all over the floor on the first night and after we notified the desk nothing was done. The next moring while paying the bill I questioned the woman about the problem and she informed me " my colleague checked on it , however it was too difficult to...

We stayed here for two nights and loved it. We stayed in the best room - room 12, which was beautiful!!! Part of the room was in the turret! A very romantic room / suite. There were tiny things i'd improve...two tiles in the bathroom need changing.....but really, minor changes. The hotel website really does not do it justice. The food...

We stayed at this property because we could not find a room in St. Emilion. The price is good, but we had an attic room which was categorized as a Comfort Room. It was anything BUT comfortable. In fact, the floors were so creaky that when the people in the next room moved around it sounded like the entire floor...

I found this chateau in the Cadogan Guides' "Dordogne & The Lot." We spent only one night at this chateau, but loved it! Don't be discouraged by the outbuildings as you drive up the driveway. The chateau is lovely and located in the middle of a beautiful vineyard. We walked through the vines, enjoyed a great meal, and were pleased...

“The hotel is a renovated, baring lovely golden stone walls in some rooms. Perhaps this is one reason the rooms are quiet. However, many rooms have a view (a great view) of the hotel's nice pool. But it might be good to ask about families visiting in the summer...”
