A difficult review to write - trying to get a balance between being enthusiastic and yet still being honest & helpful to other travellers. Lots of positive points. Michael is a friendly, helpful and enthusiastic host. Delightful location by the river in the centre of this very quiet Black Forest village. Easy parking in the quiet street right outside the... The thing that made this Bed and Breakfast great was the hospitality! Michael is an amazing host! He is probably the nicest host we have ever encountered in our travels. The dinner we had was so delicious and we had an excellent time sitting in the biergarten that overlooked the river. Such a peaceful, tranquil place...exactly what we were looking... More

Stunning location, great village to explore, safe motorcycle parking, fabulous find at the end of a great day exploring the Black Forrest. Landlord was the perfect host, great food, great beer. Other was a varied menu catering for all tastes, we enjoyed sitting out on the terrace by the river to eat our food.

We stayed for 6 nights at the end of May/start of June and absolutely loved the place. We had our 22 month old son with us and Michael the owner was so welcoming to all of us and brilliant with our baby. The food is awesome, we ate in the hotel every single night, there was just no need to... More

Stayed here for a couple days while touring the black forest. The location is excellent, right next to a fast flowing stream and part of the historical part of town. The room was a good size with a great view. Michael, the owner was so friendly and always went out of his way to assist us, inclding providing hiking maps... More

I have been trying to mentally write this review ever since I returned from Germany. I am so overwhelmed by my experience in a good way that I wanted to say just the right thing. Michael the owner, what can I say? I miss you like family only more! So, so warm and engaging. I had a compound sprained ankle... More

A great place to stay. Michael, the host, is the most welcoming patron you could ever wish to meet. The hotel is warm and welcoming, with good food, and comfortable clean rooms. Schiltach is a very pretty village nestled in the Black Forest. Highly recommended.

Our group of 8 people, coming from Spain and visiting the Black Forrest, spent one single night in May at the Zur Alten Brucke. Of course it does not pretend to be a luxury place but we were greatly surprised and not only for the very warm welcome of Michael, the manager. This is a small but very comfortable hotel... More
