A very friendly hotel. A Clean, warm & functional room with a great shower! Unfortunately we didn't maximise the facilities available other than our room, internet & the ski locker room & a coffee in the bar area which was excellent too. Close to shops, bakery, restaurants the Pecetto shuttle & Monte Moro Cablecars Perfect for our requirements.
The ground floor apartment was incredibly noisy. Not only was I unable to sleep due to the lack of curtains (light coming in from outside due there just being a translucent lace curtain over the window) but the people in the apartment above seemed to decide to move all their furniture round at 2300 - the noise was deafening. There was no evidence of any soundproofing whatsoever (doors slamming, toilets flushing late into the night). The kitchen lacked basic provisions such as cleaning equipment (e.g. washing-up liquid, tea-towels, kitchen roll etc); would it really have been too much to ask to put some salt in the provided salt seller, or is every resident expected to buy 1kg of salt from the local shop? In most apartments I have rented there is often a collection of stuff left behind by previous residents (e.g. salt, pepper, olive oil, washing up liquid etc); if something is missing / exhausted, you make your contribution; sadly not here - the cupboards were bare. Very disappointing.…
We stayed here in July for 5 nights and were made to feel very welcome by the family. The room was spacious and clean. The views of monta rosa are stunning, especially at dawn and would recommend waking early for this spectacular view. It is a very short walk to the square where there are a few places to eat and shop for groceries. The cable car up is highly recommended -there was snow at the top! The restaurant is worth a visit. Macugnaga is a beautiful place and will definitely be coming back and stay at the Monterosa
