At the foot of the Drakensburg mountains in the middle of nowhere and 3 hours by car form Jo'burg is Cathedral Peak Hotel. Nice welcome on arrival at the beginning of Easter weekend. Pleasant extensive buffet for dinner and breakfast with freshly cooked items. Excellent wifi and phone reception, better than in central England. Plenty of activities in this natural...

Driving into the Drakensberg mountains the views of the hotel and grounds are amazing but the actual hotel and their staff are disappointing !! Our rooms were in need of an upgrade but at least they were comfortable, private and quiet. The hotel had an old fashioned feel and it lacked the personal touch and attention to detail. What really...

My neice and I spent 4 glorious nights at Cathedral Peaks Hotel in October last year. The food was excellent - I don't think I have ever seen such a wide choice at a buffet. service was excellent and very friendly. Had a lovely room overlooking the mountains. My neice went on some awesome walks whereas as stayed and relaxed...

The Cathedral Peak hotel is in a stunning setting, surrounded by the Drakensberg mountains. Rooms were spacious and we were fortunate enough to have a private balcony area, although that is not the case with all rooms. Dinner and breakfast buffet are included and were both very nice. Morning and afternoon tea are also from 10.30 - 11.30 and 3.30...

Having been turned off by the lunch buffet just by the sheer looks of it, we turned to la carte, hoping to get better food. But everything we got seemed to have been frozen before and arrived rather wobbly and lukewarm. So, see that you eat lunch somewhere else and then enjoy the scenery. BTW, we had to pay 50...

Perhaps it was unfortunate that we travelled here on the Sunday of a four day public holiday, on the way in, drunks and other urinating well wishers contrasted with the ladies in their pristine Sunday best. We'd done innumerable miles on dirt as well as single track roads but this trip had a niggle of insecurity. The scenery surrounding this...

Stayed here for 2 nights in room 201 - a superior room - from 23 March 2017 The drive to the hotel is nothing short of spectacular – rural houses of all constructions dotted throughout the landscape – switch back tarred roads – with the views of the Drakensburg mountains unfolding – we approach the hotel on a day of...

There is no doubt that the location and surrounding scenery of this place is absolutely stunning and there is definitely plenty to do, but unfortunately some of the staff we met, let it down on a grand scale. The reception staff were disinterested and not very helpful. We were made to feel like an inconvenience when asking for information about...

We close this hotel complex for our last 3 days in SA, before leaving through J'Burg. We are very glad we did. I cannot say it was easy to find as the address was Winterton which in fact is around 40Km away. So after a long drive from St Lucia on the KZN coast we were very happy to arrive at...
