I stayed last week with a friend in Tekuani Kal. The hotel is extremely well located on the beach. It has an exit to go to the beach and the other exit to go to the town. We tried the breakfast (as they are part of the rate) and we really liked it. The have great pancakes, nutella crepes (mmm!) and typical Salvadorian food. We didnt try the other food, although other friends have told me is quite nice.

The lady at the reception, Susana, is one of the most nicest staff I have met, she is funny, diligent and really try to help you in any assistance. Although she is for me, the start, I would say that the majority of the staff is like that and provide good tips and find us the taxi to go back to San Salvador, etc.

I stayed one night in a regular room, and the second one in the suite, which is a little more expensive, although it includes a living room and it is way more spacious. Not necessary if your plan is to be outside, but none the least a great room. (Although the regular one is good also). We spent 200 dollars (with all the taxes included) for the 2 nights.

My only complain, if any, is that there is still buidling reconstruction, and there is a lot of material and construction stuff in the entry, so it really makes the entry to the hotel a little messy. Hopefully in the future this will be finished.

The pool is quite small, but most of the time, my friend and me were on our own in it (I suppose the people goes to the beach), and althoug small is quite nice and you have one of the best views from the top of the sea. Really enjoyed hanging there and taking the sun there.

We enjoyed this beachfront hotel. Staff was very accomadating. They had security guards at both entrances. Kids loved the two small beautiful pools. Free breakfast was very good. Loved relaxing in the hammocks on the beach. We were able to rent surfboards inexpensively in town (5 minute walk). Local restaurants were good. Only complaint was the shower (no hot water). But, it was so hot outside, shower was almost refreshing.

Chose this hotel from other reviews and speaking with the owner. My stay there had it's ups and downs. The highs were- room # 4- oceanfront room and the meals. Breakfast was included wih the room. Had the typical Salvadorean breakfast; plaintains, beans, eggs and sweet cheese. Delicious. Dinners also excellent- menu had a great selection of food.
The low- the room. The beds leave something to be desired along with the lighting. Definitely need better matresses.
Could also use a table with chairs in the room for writing purposes. Generally went to the restaurant to write postcards, letters, etc.

The only good thing about this place is the view. No hot water, No sheets on the bed, just a stinky blanket. No double room available. Staff was nice though. Least favorite spot of our El Salvador holiday.

We picked this hotel based on recommendations from Tripadvisor and because we wanted to stay in el Tunco. However, we were very disappointed with our room. Our room was on beach level and had carpeting that held dampness from the beach, making for a moldy feel. We did not have hot water, and the shower consisted of water coming through a hole in a PVC pipe that dropped onto a large slab of rock. While aesthetically pleasing, the shower design consistently flooded our bathroom floor because water hit the rocks and splashed out of the shower. The water flooded onto the carpet, which also didnt help with the dampness all over. The lights were so dim, we consistently used our headlamps to see. The wifi at the restaurant had limited access points, so it was tough to get online. While glad we stayed in Tunco, I definitely recommend staying somewhere else. We paid too much for a below average room.

My family and I stayed here for one night in the double rooms on the bottom level. Upon entering the hotel grounds, you'll fall in love with the lush landscapes and unique art pieces. It's so beautiful! They have small infinity pool which also flows into a waterfall down the rocks to another small pool that they refer to humorously as the "spa." Both are fantastic. We ate in the restaurant and the service and food were both very good.

My only con and it's a big one, are the rooms. The ones that we stayed in were actually carpeted - who's idea what that??? They were stained and smelled moldy as most places on the beach tend to get. The bed frames were cement - old and rock hard. Luckily, I like a firm mattress. Our toilet was leaking and the shower is one stream of cold water that comes out of a bamboo pipe. I felt like I needed to wear a decontamination suit in this place - the blankets were dirty too.

Needless to say, the rooms really need improvement. This place has so much potential but I hated being in our room for more that 5 minutes. I'm torn on whether I'd stay there again.

Also, You should also know that the beach at El Tunco is littered with large rocks that make getting to the water quite difficult. The waves are enormous and t5he current is pretty strong so bring your sea legs.

After a 4-week organised tour of 5 countries in Central America, we felt that we wanted to relax a bit before returning home. Booked 4 nights at Tekuani Kal and although it looked nice on the website it turned out to be even better in reality!

Location right on the beach perfect for surfing or just having fun in the waves. There are also some hammocks in the shade if you would like to relax with a good book. Very tasty Salvadorian breakfast was included in the room rate and really good food was available from the restaurant, a good choice from a very varied menu. Restaurant / bar was in great location overlooking the sea. We were here two weeks before Chrsitmas and some days we seemed to be the only guests! Staff was very friendly and very good service was provided. I liked the room and the bathroom with the funny shower with stones on the floor. Only one negative: please replace the carpet in the rooms with wood or stone floor - you will always bring in some sand from the beach.....not easy to keep clean.

The pictures of this hotel are very deceiving. They have different room categories and will give you the worst room possible. The rooms are overpriced. There are roaches. Bad smells. There is no water pressure or even hot water. The faucets and showers are all salt water. The rooms were never made, except for one day that we complained. The list goes on and on. Even after complaining they will forget the next day. The only positive things are the views, location and the food. It is ok to go and have lunch. We moved to a near by hotel for about twenty dollars a night and it made a world of difference. I usually don't complain but this place deserves the publicity. Ah and by the way the tiny 7 x 7 feet pool was nasty, you cannot even see the bottom.

The hotel is one of the better in town. The hotel is beautiful but our room was a little not as good. Firstly, the room is very dark at night because it only has 3 small lamps on top of the bed. Our bathroom smelled weird and we had to get someone to clean it. There is no hot water in the shower. Even though El Tunco was hot, a warm shower is always what we prefer.

However, this hotel also offers very good services. Staff were extremely helpful and restaurant food was amazing. The decoration of the hotel is neat.

The pool is nice but during our 3 days stay, it'd been filled with people (I think some not even staying in the hotel, friends of guests) and we just can't even use the pool at all. Oh well.

Overall, great service but need improvement. A little more expensive than the quality.

My wife and I spent 5 days here to simply get away from it all, and enjoyed the spectacular setting, the service and the friendliness of the staff, the food and lounging on the beach or at the pool. During the week, we were the only guests and had the run of the place.

The drawbacks mentioned by other reviewers are all true, but I would consider them minor in comparison to the overall experience. Even though the meals might be a tad more expensive than elsewhere in Tunco, the view and service do make up for it.

The wifi was no longer working, when we were there, which only helped in putting a bit of distance between us and the "real world".

You should go ... the bus ride from San Salvador takes only about an hour and costs 1 US$ or a bit more, if you have to change buses in La Libertad.
