over the years we have celebrated some special occasions at Bilbirnie House and have never been disappointed. this visit was once again successful mainly due to the quality of the food, the very special little extras and the friendliness of the staff. we were there on this occasion to celebrate an anniversary and use a voucher before it ran out....

A lovely relaxed atmosphere but beautiful country house ambience. Fire on in the welcoming bar for pre drinks and canapes followed by lovely dinner and on this occasion the water glasses were refilled without having to ask (addressing a previous irritation). The food was beautifully cooked and just right in quantity and the waiting staff very good. The coffee has...

Lovely overnight here recently. Have stayed a few times now and does not ever disappoint. Lovely gardens and just so peaceful. We always go here for the tranquility. Recently had a bit of redecorating and just fab. Good few sitting rooms to sit and chill or have drinks/coffee. Highly recommend.

One night's stay + lunch was enough to indicate that my previous review may just have been caused by an ''off day"! This experience was quite the contrary! I arrived exhausted from an overseas flight without baggage as BA had lost it, so no clothes, razor, toiletries, etc. and the staff were great in helping and I must especially thank...

After a wonderful family wedding held at the Balbirnie it has always been our go to hotel for a night away or a special occasion break. On previous visits we have always been impressed with the service and really enjoyed our stay. We stayed earlier this month for dinner, bed and breakfast and were very disappointed. Our room was up...

We visited Balbirnie House as Wedding guests, we chose to stay overnight in the hotel. The hotel and grounds are beautiful, a perfect setting for a wedding. All of the rooms used for the wedding were grand and very well presented. The meal was absolutely lovely and the portions were all large. The room we had was a standard double...

I booked a Christmas gift of a 3 course meal for my parents and made a point of going to the hotel to book so I could ask about disabled access as my mother has limited mobility and was assured she would be able to reach the Bistro through their service elevator. At no point was I told there were...

Hello, and we again apologise for the fact that our service lift was not working, as it was in the course of undertaking engineer maintenance.

Having married here ten years ago, it was a joy to return to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed overnight and had dinner, bed and breakfast. The hotel remains so stunning with great attention to detail. We upgraded to the bridal suite which had been fully refurbished and looks amazing! Think this must be the biggest bed I've ever slept in!...

Beautiful venue in a lovely setting. Service took quite a long time which was understandable for the size of the group however still quite long. I had the fish & chips. Fish batter was very crispy & a bit oily. Fish was not very tasty even smothered in lemon & tartar sauce. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Staff should...

Many thanks to the Balbirnie Hotel for the great afternoon we had with family and friends celebrating our Golden Wedding. I personally feel your comments made to a local lady celebrating her 35th wedding anniversary were horrible!

I fully support dawn t on this and feel your response is condescending in the truest sense of the word, you appear to show an attitude of patronizing superiority when you state, " Balbirnie's Snr Manager in charge of Guest Services, has already gone a country mile to do everything possible to exceed what any logically thinking guest would consider as truly wonderful service"

How dare you? this part of your statement, "logically thinking guest" is an insult to dawn t and your lifeline in your chosen career, hospitality - GUEST SATISFACTION! What gives you the right to be this demeaning and make such an arrogant statement ?

When you book the Orangery at 8-00pm you expect the Orangery at 8-00pm and not pathetic excuses on one's special night saying you were busy. As dawn t specifically points out, you weren't busy/fully booked when she arranged their anniversary event.

Is it the fact dawn t is simply a local lass spending what could be classed as an inconsiderable amount of money in your establishment in comparison to the larger parties, that she is relegated to second/third class service whilst the larger groups receive a better class of service, I hesitate to use the words first class as it doesn't apply unless every guest is satisfied and, as this event experienced by dawn t shows, that was not the case.

This response is purely my personal opinion at the way you have handled, or mishandled this complaint. I hope you do host dawn t again, should she choose to visit, and get it right next time.

Lastly, ponder this, most people get married once. But after that they celebrate that event annually, perhaps you need to consider this as a more important, and consistent, alternative revenue stream than you currently seem to.
