I attended one of Balbirnie's party nights last night and it was, from start to finish, amazing! As a former employee (16 years ago) I had quite high expectations but these were exceeded! The welcome reception was lovely, Santa was not very jolly, however I wouldn't mark down for that! Once in the ball room there was just enough time...

We stayed on Sunday-I'm not sure if the room we had was standard (208) it was so beautiful- with a fantastic 4 poster bed. Although there was a wedding on I could not believe how quiet and relaxing our stay was. Our meal in the Orangery was so tasty and the atmosphere so chilled. The staff here are very professional-...

Thank you to Sarah for organising the perfect retirement treat and also to all staff who waited on us during the evening. The evening started in a quiet area containing comfortable sofas for pre-dinner drinks. We were then taken into the the beautifully dressed room for dinner. Everyone commented on how much they enjoyed their meal. This was the most...

Very disappointed after an overnight stay for my husbands 50th birthday. I paid £350 for our luxury suite. We were just getting settled in when a hotel guest just walked in. We were then "upgraded" to another room when, at 1am we were awoken with two hotel guests in our room! The hotel staff had no clue to who was in...

Visited here with the family and dined in the orangery. First of all we are big fans of balbirnie. We were married here 13 years ago and have always found the standard to be first class. The meal we had this time round was very good with a couple of low notes in between the usual excellent standard. When the...

Stayed here overnight with my daughter whilst visiting family in Fife. After an early start and a long drive it was lovely to be greeted warmly by the reception staff who were polite, professional and so helpful. Our room was large and well furnished with a beautiful view out over the gardens which were still very Autumnal in colour. Our...

A meal at the chef's table to taste a range of dishes for an upcoming family wedding. A long table opening onto the kitchen - so able to speak with the head chef and watch the boys at work. One couldn't see a lot of cooking going on - mainly plating up and food presentation. We had a mixture of...

My husband and I stay here 5th and 6th November 2016. Our friends had booked their wedding for the Sunday and as we haven't had any alone time for a good while we decided to stay on the Saturday night and make a date of it! Upon booking I advised the hotel of this and they suggested one of their...

I personally feel your comments made to a local lady celebrating her 35th wedding anniversary were horrible!

I fully support dawn t on this and feel your response is condescending in the truest sense of the word, you appear to show an attitude of patronizing superiority when you state, " Balbirnie's Snr Manager in charge of Guest Services, has already gone a country mile to do everything possible to exceed what any logically thinking guest would consider as truly wonderful service"

How dare you? this part of your statement, "logically thinking guest" is an insult to dawn t and your lifeline in your chosen career, hospitality - GUEST SATISFACTION! What gives you the right to be this demeaning and make such an arrogant statement ?

When you book the Orangery at 8-00pm you expect the Orangery at 8-00pm and not pathetic excuses on one's special night saying you were busy. As dawn t specifically points out, you weren't busy/fully booked when she arranged their anniversary event.

Is it the fact dawn t is simply a local lass spending what could be classed as an inconsiderable amount of money in your establishment in comparison to the larger parties, that she is relegated to second/third class service whilst the larger groups receive a better class of service, I hesitate to use the words first class as it doesn't apply unless every guest is satisfied and, as this event experienced by dawn t shows, that was not the case.

This response is purely my personal opinion at the way you have handled, or mishandled this complaint. I hope you do host dawn t again, should she choose to visit, and get it right next time.

Lastly, ponder this, most people get married once. But after that they celebrate that event annually, perhaps you need to consider this as a more important, and consistent, alternative revenue stream than you currently seem to.
