What a beautiful place, this old mansion! You get the feeling that you’re back in time. Lovely rooms and lounge areas. Nice to take a dip in the pool after sightseeing. Very friendful and helpful people in the hotel. We loved every minute of our stay! Tip for photographers: go to the windmills before breakfast. The light is the best!
We stayed here when travelling to Malaga from Santander, it is a lovely hotel very friendly staff, it is in a good location to visit the windmills. There are plenty of bars and restaurants along the river walkway which is only 2-3 minutes walk.
We've stayed here before, before Covid. Its 4-5 hrs from Fuengirola. This visit was different! Location is great and there is secure parking €7 pd or on the street. Its in a quiet part very close to the windmills. Walking distance if yr able! Walking distance to the bars & restaurants. The hotel is a beautiful old moorish house around a covered courtyard. Very nicely decorated & furnished with antique furnishings. We had booked a basic room but were given a room with kitchen area which inc a fridge, coffee machine & m/w. But no crockery, glass or cutlery. Good job, because of covid the restaurants were closed and you could only drink & eat outside and it was cold & rainy! We managed to find a supermarket and bought food but there was no crockery or cutlery in our room. The reception was closed and we appeared to be the only ones in the hotel!! Nevermind, we managed! The next eve we ate in the restaurant. It was seriously good food. Best steak ever eaten! It cost €80 for 2. Share the dessert! It really is worth the money! 3 nights were too long but hubby is photographer and wanted to do night shots of the windmills.…
This was an overnight stop just before Christmas on our way south. I struggle to find a quiet dog friendly hotel south of Madrid. This was our second visit. Most of the rooms are upstairs set round what would have been an open courtyard. The "landing" area is set out for the comfort of residents with easy chairs, tea and coffee, kettle, milk and biscuits. The bedrooms are traditionally furnished and a good nights sleep is guaranteed as the hotel is in a quiet part of town. Breakfast is good value (7.5€) but is not served until 09.00 at weekends. Our dog enjoys the walks, either along the dry (hopefully) river bed or along the tracks by the football stadium. The el Retorno restaurant on site is excellent, 3 courses, wine and coffee approx 80€. The bar can be accessed round the corner of the hotel where you can find tapas and snacks. The hotel is only 8 km from the A4 so it is an easy stop off and sat nav takes you straight to the door.…
We stayed for one night on our annual migration to the Costa and were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and how beautifully the old building had been renovated to transform it into a hotel. I am in a wheelchair and apart from a somewhat creative system of mobile ramps to enter the hotel (unavoidable due to the fabric and location of the building) the downstairs adapted room made our stay easy and was absolutely charming.
Difficult to review this hotel which we stayed at to break our drive up to Northern Spain. Although on the face of it, there was nothing majorly wrong with it, we just didn’t feel comfortable there! It is in a small town and can best be described as quirky in an old fashioned way. It is an old house with rooms around a central lounge area. It has a small pool in the rear courtyard and seating. Our room was adequate but did smell a little musty on entry but once the shutters were opened was ok. The shower is in the bath & was alright but I found the bed a little hard for my personal taste. Breakfast was well presented and was the usual cold meat, cheese & cake with toaster and jams. In the evening there are a number of bars ping tapas along the dried up river only 5 minutes walk from the hotel which the locals use at night. There is a castle & windmills just outside town which are a tourist attraction. …
Very nice quirky hotel in a historical mansion. Beautiful sitting areas and the double room was very different as it had a sitting area and a mezzanine bed area. The room was very nice and clean with a microwave and cups also could ask for cutlery etc.Outside on the landing was a kettle and milk to make a cup of tea or coffee.
We stayed in La Vida de Antes on our way to Andalusia. What a beauty.... Beautifull historical building in the centre of Consuegra, the little town where you can visit the iconic windmills from the Don Quichote tales. Stylish typical Spanish interior in dating from the 19th century. Maybe one little attention point is that they don’t have airco, but here in October this was nog a problem. All rooms are differejt ajd have their own character. Warm recommendation when you are in the area, or passing by...
This hotel is perfectly situated in the centre of Consuegra, so near to the windmills that you could almost reach out and touch them ... it's clean and friendly with a breakfast of all homemade wonderful things. Upstairs is a small seating area where you can make yourself a cup of tea or coffee. It really is like going back to the past in this wonderful traditional house. Don't hesitate to stay her - you won't regret it!
For those with an interest in history and older building this hotel will evoke thoughts of gracious living in the old days. The hotel is tucked away in the quieter streets of Consuegra and some rooms offer partial views of the picturesque windmills and perhaps the castle. We were intrigued with the interior of this hotel and the atmosphere it evoked. Well worth the effort to seek it out and stay over. The reception staff were most friendly and helpful. Our room was both comfortable and spacious with a small sitting/dining room. The various pictures, furnishings and artefacts are of interest. The central atrium is cool and comfortable. Disappointingly, we were unable to obtain a pre dinner drink. The receptionist was involved in a lengthy tour of the hotel with other guests and was unable to help. We had intended to eat in the hotel but ventured out into the town, despite the heat. There, we eventually found something to drink and eat but it was very disappointing bearing in mind that we were in the town plaza. A pleasant night's sleep was obtained and the bed comfortable. Breakfast was a very good buffet hosted by a most pleasant and helpful waitress. This hotel is recommended to visit as it is unusual and interesting. Consuegra town is dull but I understand that the castle and windmills are worth a visit even though we did not have time to do so. Maybe we will do so when it is cooler. Secure car parking is available upon request and this is a gated space at the end of one of the approach roads. A key unlocks a small door within a large sliding door. Not much room to manoeuvre once inside but it gives peace of mind.…
