I've stayed in a fair number of 5 star hotels in the last few years and have been completely floored by how amazing some of them can be. This one beats them all. We were upgraded to the executive suite which included a separate kitchen, large living room and dining room as well as the extensive bedroom suite. Our room...

The Chinzanso was the best or equal best hotel we have ever stayed in. In our experience, up there with the Luxembourg Parc in Paris and the Hotel Eden in Spietz. Indeed, we liked it so much that after spending 4 cays on arrival in Tokyo, we changed our booking to spend the final 3 days there as well. The...

My family and I typically fly standby so I had about 30 minutes before boarding the plane to book a hotel in Tokyo beginning the next night for 3 nights. I booked for 2 guests via Priceline since I was unable to specify that we needed a room for 3 adults including my wife and adult daughter (I've since discovered...

This is actually the first review that I'm writing, but there is a reason for that. And the reason is that this was by far the best hotel experience that I have had. We (2 adults, 2 kids) spent 6 nights in Chinzanso in our two week holiday in Japan. We had the standard room with cityview. Room was large...

I understand this is the former Four Seasons hotel and its absolutely spectacular. I travel fairly regularly for business or pleasure and this one of the best hotels I've stayed in. We took the airport bus to this hotel and its the last stop taking about two hours from Narita. The hotel is very plush but it never overwhelmes the...

This is third time I stay in this spectacular hotel. It gets better every time. Only a great hotel will satisfy my traveling habits. I normally leave the hotel daily in the afternoon. Hotel Chinzanso is amazing. The garden is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and the service is excellent. I could not fault anything. It really was perfect. I loved the Yu spa, especially the hot spring bath. Room service was excellent and housekeeping did an excellent job everyday. I can't wait to return.

We visited Hotel Chinzanso for the cherry blossom lunch buffet as well as a quick tour around the hotel and gardens. The mix of Japanese and western dishes at the buffet were creative and of top quality, we especially loved the steak with onion rings and the scallops with a green cream sauce. The chocolate opera indeed melted in the...

Dear Rachelsloane60 Sama, Thank you for coming to Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo to celebrate the beginning of the cherry blossom season. By now - March 21 - several early varieties are in bloom and the more common "someiyoshi" cherry trees are about to bloom. Along the river next to our hotel, we can already see the first "someiyoshi" cherry blossoms and...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is located uptown in Mejiro. While it is in the heart of Tokyo, the hotel is surrounded by our spacious scenic green garden, which gives the hotel an aura of quiet serenity. The property consists of three buildings: the hotel, the plaza and the tower; and a traditional-style Japanese garden. The hotel has 260 rooms, 36 banquet halls, 5 wedding facilities and 12 restaurants. The garden lets our guests experience the four seasons through its changing colors: camellias bloom in the winter, cherry trees bloom in the spring, fireflies fill the garden in the summer and the leaves change colors in the autumn. Please come and see why so many of our guests are awed by the changes of the seasons in the garden. ... more   less
