I spent four nights at this gem and I loved every piece of it. The staff we super friendly. Very professional. The hotel is one of the most, if not the most, elegant I have ever been. The garden is amazing and if you are there around sakura you are a lucky man. The lounge in the 12 floor is...

We began our trip to Japan in Tokyo and although there were many hotels to choose from we selected Hotel Chinzanso. We were overwhelmed by the warm and gracious greeting we received by staff members waiting outside as we arrived. The hotel itself is beautiful and the surrounding gardens are exquisite especially since the cherry blossoms were in bloom. This...

The staff takes pleasure and pride in helping guests as much as possible and everybody is glad to hear that they could make your stay so memorable. Beautiful garden, attentive customer service, wonderful food don't miss the Japanese breakfast, I have been here a couple of times and always enjoyed my stays. It is a bit further away from most things but definitely worth that extra effort.

Unless you are glutton for business district high-rises, this serene former Four Seasons is definitely worth the stay in Tokyo, notwithstanding its 10 minute walk to a metro stop or slightly off city-center location. But what it lacks perhaps in being in the middle of everything is a relaxing, luxurious, green ambience that makes for a very very comfortable stay...

I felt like royalty when I stayed here. This hotel, which used to be a Four Seasons until they decided to become independent, has a massive garden with its own centuries-old pagoda in the center. You can get lost for hours in that garden, or have a traditional tea ceremony in one of their tea houses within it (ask the...

I took a business trip with 2 nights in this hotel. The meeting took place in the other wing of the hotel. Very convenient. Rooms were exceptionally tidy. Wifi was fast enough. We stayed for 5 nights in January 2016. While there are plenty of luxury hotels in Tokyo, this one, for the exceptional beauty of its garden and the taste of its decor and facilities, must rank as one of the best. It's fundamentally a wedding venue (it started off that way in a previous and perhaps even ancient avatar) so...

Yet another hotel that I would give four and a half stars to. Come on Tripadvisor, give us more flexibility! The Chinzanso is the height of restrained elegance. Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo is located uptown in Mejiro. While it is in the heart of Tokyo, the hotel is surrounded by our spacious scenic green garden, which gives the hotel an aura of quiet serenity. The property consists of three buildings: the hotel, the plaza and the tower; and a traditional-style Japanese garden. The hotel has 260 rooms, 36 banquet halls, 5 wedding facilities and 12 restaurants. The garden lets our guests experience the four seasons through its changing colors: camellias bloom in the winter, cherry trees bloom in the spring, fireflies fill the garden in the summer and the leaves change colors in the autumn. Please come and see why so many of our guests are awed by the changes of the seasons in the garden. ... more   less
