Hotel Niwa Tokyo garners praise for its tranquil atmosphere that blends traditional Japanese style with modern comforts. The hotel's location is a hit among guests for its quiet yet convenient proximity to shops, restaurants, and transit. Staff receive accolades for their exceptional service and welcoming nature.
While the hotel's cleanliness is generally celebrated, a few guests suggest room service could be more meticulous. Luxurious amenities, including Toto toilets and Jacuzzi tubs, contribute to the overall positive experience, although some visitors mention the on-site dining is somewhat expensive.

Detailed Reviews
This is a well-designed hotel with the use of warm wood throughout the hotel common areas and rooms. The rooms are not large, which is perfectly normal in Tokyo, but the bathrooms are relatively spacious. The hotel is located on a side street behind a main drag, so there is a definite sense of tranquility about this hotel. There are multiple transportation links, both trains and subways, close by, and small shops and restaurants within walking distance (a somewhat unique neighborhood since there are a number of universities in the area). The breakfast buffet was ample, with eggs made to order, but the Japanese breakfast available on the weekends is fantastic (there is a limit of 15 meals per day so you need to arrive early). My only complaints were that the lighting in the room could be brighter and the weak Wifi signal (it kept dropping). Overall, though, a very nice stay, but the place will become more popular and more expensive soon.

A big thank you to N.Sano, she was very professional, knowledgeable, and helpful! She helped us with the check-in, extended our stay and delivered our luggages to the our other destination.
The hotel itself was very cool, it had a relaxation room, siphon coffee, and massage chairs. The location was good as well, 5 minute walk to the suibo station to get around the city. Also 7/11 and familymart were less than a 5 min walk too for snacks and drinks!
The room is pretty small, we had the superior room and switched to the standard room which you can really tell the size difference. If you're booking a room for 2 people, I would recommend the superior room.
The rooms were pretty clean, however, you may notice some dusty areas like the edge of the walls/floors. But overall it was still fine for the price. Bathrooms were clean and they provided a lot of essentials (comb, brush, qtip, hair ties, etc).

Staying rwith my son rght now at the Niwa since almost 2 weeks, I think, the hotel deserves a five star rating.
Here's a non-exhaustive list why I think Niwa Hotel deserves rather a five star rating: than the 4.5 rating:
-wonderful and easy electronic convenient check- in when you arrive after a tiring long-haul flight as well having navigated through the intricate & complex subway network of Tokyo from Narita airport to the hotel-especialky if it's your 1st time and one is not yet familiar with it
-yes, the rooms are indeed small, but expected of Tokyo. And what compensates for 'lack of size', are all the wonderful complimentary amenities one find in the hotel room (slippers, pj's, coffee&tea, bath accessories...)
-Niwa Hotel is located in a more quieter area of Tokyo& in a quiet side street. However, it only takes 5min walks to the nearest subway station Suidobashi which connects you in no time to all the main spots and tourist attractions
-On top, the hotel's location has/offers the convenience of having a close-by familymart open 24/7 and lots of other shops/restaurants just around the corner
-the previous two points add to the high rating of the hotel as walking in scorching heat during the summer in Tokyo, could become a joy killer
-and if like us, one is travelling during the hot summer months, the luxury of having washing machines in the hotel, is well appreciated
-and while waiting for the wash to be done, one can enjoy their relaxation room as well the massage chairs
-ice and a vending machine next to the laundry room are also a great asset
-and the complimentary coffee in the lobby reflects Japan's famous hospitality
-I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful breakfast buffet offering a nice choice if typical Japanese as well Western dishes
-and yes, the staff of the hotel is very helpful and going out of their way to try to help you...such a nice experience coming from a country where customer service is almost nil/non-existant
The only point where I think there's room for improvement is the room service: on several occasions I found our room not well cleaned-wondetingvuf it had been cleaned St all as I saw still some old dirt spots and especially the toilet didn't seemed to have been cleaned properly. Also I found on several days, that our garbage hasn't been taken/removed and was still in our room when we got back.
It seems to me, room service does a superficial job by just changing the sheets and restocking the amenities, but an overall cleaning doesn't seem to be done on a daily basis.
That's to us/for me, the only downside of our stay.
But overall, I would I highly recommend the hotel and definitely would come back if we were again in Tokyo!

This is basically a decent hotel but expensive as I stayed during during the Xmas New Year period. The rooms are very small , and the cuisine in the hotel is very expensive for what it is. Breakfast was included and was very decent but for its cost , it was not sensational. I ordered an omelette which was very small . I requested another and was told that one could order only one omelette off the buffet. Ridiculous, especially since Japan is not going through a food crisis or the hotel owners are just plain cheap. However to be fair, there are washing machines available and massage chairs. As check out time is 11 am , any addition time requested time is charged by the hour!!
There are obviously better choices in Tokyo as there is no dearth of hotels in this magnificent city. I have been to Tokyo at least 25 times.

Best hotel I have stayed at in years! This hotel is fantastic. Stayed here for 7 nights and only have good things to say! The service, cleanliness, attention to detail is incredible. The amenities range from fresh pajamas every day, a well stocked bathroom with bath salts, tooth brushes, hair elastics to bottled water, coffee and green tea. The third floor has a relaxing space, gym, and coin operated laundry. We used the Suidobashi train station daily and enjoyed eating at the local restaurants. The hotel is on a quiet street yet close to everything you could need. The front desk team was incredibly helpful! Loved Toyko, loved this hotel!

I have been to Tokyo multiple times and this hotel is definitely the best one I have stayed (and worth the effort my first ever hotel review!). It makes you feel like home - comfortable, clean, neat and tea/coffee sessions that allow you to get a taste of Japan. The hotel put efforts in their interior design and immediately makes you feel that you are in Japan.

I reserved 15 nights at this hotel and so far I had to change rooms three times. The 1st room is extremely small not enough space to have two suitcases of two people staying. Then I asked to upgrade paying extra this room was extremely dusty all over the bed boards, cabinets and windows seals. I called front desk which was apologetical but did nothing apart from giving me a cloth to clean, then I decided to rebook for an extra 4 nights on the top floor large room, it was again very dusty and noisy, one could not sleep as there is a local train line going on 24 hrs especially 5am and business hours as the windows Do not seal properly. I called the manager this time took photos of the dirty room, she upgraded me to a smaller room with a jacuzzi and separe toilet cubicle, it was a joke.
The breakfast is expensive for what they offer £18 per person, during the weekend they offer more selection of fruits but during the week it’s a grapefruit sliced in small pieces, one orange and half melon.
It’s s hotel for Japanese travellers but not for foreigners that stay longer than 5 nights .It’s Also a residential area with very little options of restaurants and shops.
Avoid this hotel as it’s not worth spending your money on them.
On the photos is a £117 room per night so cheaper ones are even smaller.

I always stay here during business trip for its quietness and away from the buzzing streets. the hotel nestled in schools, office and typical japanese neighbourhood with walking distance to few major train station. I enjoyed walking along the river to explore smaller shops, eateries, and people watching. The hotel has one small restaurant serving exquisite food, the main restaurant serves both western and japanese choice of food daily.

We found this pretty hotel exceeded our high expectations. The gardens on multiple levels, the amenities, the staff, and our guest room each had a sophisticated Japanese spirit, a nice change from more Western hotels. The location is close to transit, the area comfortable to wander day or night, and there is interesting shopping not far away. We were within walking distance of a number of interesting sites. We enjoyed our breakfasts very much and also dinners at both restaurants on site. The staff provided personal attention to confirm our reservation ahead of time by email and arrange for dining too.
