Although we only stayed one night the room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and efficient. The location was great and once we checked in we spent the rest of the day exploring. In the evening we had a meal in the hotel restaurant which was very nice and the service was excellent.

Our stay here was for 5 nights. Room was comfortable, very clean, but not too much room for extra baggage. We found the staff here (along with other hotels we stayed in while in Japan) had limited english when speaking. The hotel is ideally situated for transport (Tokyo Metro - 500m), Tokyo Dome is also very close by. The breakfast...

Stayed here 4 nights and this is a great hotel. Everything was perfect, room, front desk, breakfast(wow), and liked its small Japanese garden on site. We paid for the breakfast, it was expensive, but well worth what you got. I think they had 6 kinds of lettuce on the salad bar! 2 soups, great fresh juices, breads, steamed veggies, fresh...

It was our first visit to Japan and we stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. The service was great. The room size was small but that's most hotel rooms in Tokyo. Location wise, it was close to the Suidobashi station so it's easy to get around.

I've gone to Tokyo many times over the years for work, but never as a tourist; hence, this was the first time I was on my own finding a hotel that wouldn't break the bank! Hotel Niwa is fabulous, The rooms are clean, bright, fresh and well amended. But if you're looking for rooms with a view, this is not...

A very fine hotel located probably in the inner suburbs of Tokyo and adjacent to a JR station and a subway that will take you anywhere in Tokyo within 20 minutes. We stayed with a tour party in a "superior room" which gave us a very adequate amount of space for 3 days. After this, we transferred to a standard...

We stayed here for 4 nights. A short walk from Suidobashi stations and Tokyo Dome. There's plenty of nearby food places and easy to get around. The hotel was very clean and helpful staff. Replenished all the tea, coffee and towels etc. Got some cotton PJs which I chose to wear everyday. The view from the hotel wasn't great but...

Very clean hotel, excellent service and communication before, during, and after our stay. Walking distance to neighborhood restaurants, 24 hour McDonald's, JR line station, and metro line station. There is a convenient store downstairs (next door) and a 7-11 around the corner. We tried the breakfast buffet at the hotel and it was well presented and delicious. So glad we...

A first visit to Japan. A terrific experience in general and very much one I'd recommend. Japanese good manners and politeness are their greatest qualities and much seen in the hotel. Travelled with my 21 year old daughter and we were offered 2 small doubles at no extra cost in place of the booked larger double, which we leapt at....

Hotel is near Suidobashi metro station. Take exit A1. 5 minute walk from there. Welcomed by a very friendly staff and we checked in and got a room even though we arrived 2-3 hours before the checkin time. Room was clean. Had all the amenities we needed. Bed was 140 cm wide. Our family of three non-giants slept reasonably good....

Staying in Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Ochanomizu / Akihabara / Kanda
Ochanomizu boasts its academic foundations starting with Yushima Seido, the birthplace of modern day Japanese education. The area has kept its college town feel with several university campuses. If you head towards Jinbocho, you'll find musical instrument and sports equipment shops, and an area of used bookstores for students and anyone interested in literature and the arts. Akihabara is well-known for its computer and electronic goods stores, and is now hugely popular as the must-visit mecca for people interested in anime and games. Kanda is an office district where you can find loads of reasonably priced izakayas popular with professionals who stop to eat and drink before making their way home.
