I spent just under two weeks at the Sky Heart Hotel Koiwa this past winter. Having withstood 30+ hours of travel and several layovers, I was eager to get settled into the hotel and rest a bit prior to exploring Tokyo. Just a minutes walking distance from Shin-Koiwa Station, Sky Heart Hotel Koiwa is nestled in a sleepy and fairly traditional part of Tokyo. There are open air markets, shrines and beautiful gardens within short walking distance, as well as several small restaurants and shops to purchase food and other goods. 7-11, Lawson and Family Mart are, as always, within a stones throw from wherever you're located. Check-in was a breeze, and I was greeted by a very friendly front desk assistant upon arrival. He was extremely polite when dealing with my Japanese language skills and was able to communicate much of the check-in procedure in English. While coming and going from the hotel, I was always greeted by somebody working the lobby... a wonderful gesture that I did not overlook during the course of my stay. Shin-Koiwa Station's proximity to the hotel made traveling into the more densely populated areas, including Shibuya and Shinjuku, extremely easy. If you feel like doing a bit of exploring locally, a short 15-20 minute walk will lead you to Koiwa Station. Something to keep in mind, in case you would like to better understand the areas surrounding the hotel. Side streets and quaint neighborhoods are scattered throughout, which can make for a very enjoyable early evening walk. If you have researched traveling to Japan you're likely aware about the size of most hotel accommodations within the country. Yes, the rooms are quite small... but if you're traveling alone, or perhaps with one other person, space shouldn't be a hindrance. The hotel has a restaurant located adjacent to the lobby, in case you're looking for a convenient bite to eat close by. The only issue you might have with this hotel is how far it's located from the more "touristy" and exciting parts of Tokyo. It's usually a 35-40 minute train ride to get to Shibuya, which can be a bit inconvenient. Regardless, it's worth the time on the train if you're able to acquire such lovely hotel accommodations. This was my second time visiting Tokyo and I definitely plan on returning later this year. With that said, I will absolutely look into staying with Sky Heart Hotel Koiwa again.

We stayed at Sky Heart twice, first in early October 2019 and again in early November 2019. The staff were chatty and friendly, and they made us feel safe through Typhoon Hagibis. The rooms were decently soundproof - we could never hear our neighbours, but on our second stay, we were facing the train station and could hear the trains coming and going. The noises from that were never loud enough to stop us sleeping, so I wouldn't consider it a problem. The decor is old-fashioned, but the rooms are pleasant and quite clean and comfy, although we noticed some dust in corners and behind the TV. The hotel is in a great location, directly opposite Keisei Koiwa Station. It's best situated for places like Akihabara, but you can get to most tourist locations within an hour or so, which is to be expected for somewhere as big as Tokyo. Keisei Koiwa itself is a nice town, and the hotel is close to a few convenience stores and Keisei Koiwa Craft Bottleshop, which is well worth the visit if you get a chance. You can also walk to Koiwa itself, which is much larger and has quite a few bars and restaurants. Overall, the hotel is great value for money, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back in the future.

A perfect base to explore Tokyo, not too near the city centre to be crowded and loud and not too far away that getting to tourist attractions is hard. The rooms are a good size with ensuites and communal microwave, vending machines and washing machines available. Stayed in here with some friends for a week in October, unfortunately this was also the week typhoon Hagibis hit Tokyo. The hotel staff were amazing, very calm and reassuring. They offered a conference room downstairs for guests to stay in if they preferred to have company. Thankfully we had no major issues but they definitely made the whole thing less worrying!

The Sky Heart Hotel is located in East Tokyo in a more quiet area in Edogawa. It has a station right in front of the hotel, but we preferred to walk 15 minutes to Koiwa station from which you can easily get to Akihabara (15 minutes) and other central Tokyo districts. The staff was very friendly and spoke both Japanese and English. You'll find a staff member 24 hours at the Hotel lobby. The rooms are small and just what we wanted, because we just needed a place to sleep and no fancy features. The service works great, we had nothing to complain about. Features include free WiFi, air conditioning, daily new towels, razors and toothbrush, a washing room in the third floor and the hotel even has its own little restaurant. If you're looking for a small cosy room for a reasonable price with all necessary features for a place to sleep, Sky Heart Hotel might be a good choice for you. No complications, we had a good time.

It is clean and and the train station is just outside the hotel. There is free coffee and a microwave by the lobby. Staff are great too. Best part is it is near the Narita airport. There is local and the non-staff train to Narita.

Great place to stay. Daily cleaning, the staff is friendly and the amenities are good. The Keisei station is right beside the hotel and there's lots of convenience stores and restaurants nearby for a snack. There is a takoyaki place on the way from the station to the hotel. Since the hotel is so close to the station you might find the trains noisy, but it didn't bother me much.

Booked three rooms and stayed for a night after a long day in Tokyo Disneyland. The area of this hotel is a bit tucked away from the city but the hotel sits relatively close to Keisei-Koiwa station so transportation isn’t really a problem. There are convinient shops as well as a number a nice places to eat nearby. The staff were really nice. They’re friendly and helpful and were always attentive to whatever we ask. The room we stayed at was nice. Although the feel rather old and might need some renovations, the bed was surprizingly comfortable. I had a comfortable sleep. This hotel lives up to its purpose. Although for some this might feel too basic but you get what you pay for. However with the inexpensive rate for the room I booked i certainly got more that what i expected and i like it. I’d probably stay here again if by chance i’ll be somewhere around the area.

I stayed here for three nights, only because my friend was staying here for work and we could hang out together... Very much a business hotel, can't imagine why you would stay out here for touristy holiday... Pros: polite staff (it is Japan, after all) cheap coin laundry Cons: lobby stinks of smoke duvet cover was so disgusting I tried not sit on it very old rooms

Loved my stay in this hotel. Surroundings: Mostly residential. Very near the Keisei-Koiwa station. About 200m-300m away from the entrance of facing the train station. If you are looking for the closest JR station - that would be the Koiwa station which is about 15-16min walk to take Bus No 55 (JPY220) to Koiwa station. There's a grocery a stone's throw away where you can buy supplies and food. You can choose from their array of deep fried, breaded prawns, chicken, pork, vegetables and others. They also sell pre-packed ready to eat Japanese rice (YUM!) which you can pop into an oven, heat and eat. Price is way cheaper than central Tokyo. Hotel: Room size is just right for two people. Bathroom is a bit too cramped but manageable for Asian standards. Distance to airport: From Keisei-Koiwa, it only took us 60-70 mins by train to the airport with just 1 transfer. Pretty convenient. Distance to central Tokyo: Since it is located at the eastern section of Tokyo, places that are nearby would be Asakusa, Oshiage (Sky Tree), Akihabara, Ueno.

It was easy to find, and you could easly get around from the hotel. The staff was ok, and we where directed to our room. The first impression of the room was that the size was bigger than normal rooms for this price class. The facilitys was quite old, and the refrigerator did not work. The batroom was very small, and you could easly see how old it was. The room should have been throught a small renovation. The bed was okay, but we cant say the same about the noice. It was like the metro was inside the room every 10 minuts or so, all night long. I have never been at a more noicy hotel as this. So if you are someone who cant sleep with sounds outside your window, dont sleep here. The network in the room was also good enough to be used for checking facebook, mails, newspaper and use of youtube. The bed was good, and even with the noice outside did I have a good night sleep. The location was great as it was placed practically at the doorstep of Keisei-Koiwa station. Will I use this hotel again? If the price is right, but only then.
