I chose the Sakura Prince Hotel because of it’s location (5 minutes from Shinagawa station, which is one of the main transport hubs in Tokyo with Shinkansen bullet train service and direct connection to Narita and Haneda airports) and because it is affiliated with Marriott. On both of those points the hotels delivered full marks. Rooms were large (mine had...

We just returned home from our trip. This hotel is lovely. The rooms are spacious with a lot of nice details for guest comfort. The staff is fantastic ; friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. The breakfast is delicious and fresh. The gym is great, you can't bring outside shoes in but for a small fee (¥ 500) you can rent...

When we did our research about the hotel to stay in Tokyo, we had several factors to consider above and beyond the typical consideration like room cleanness: Easy access to the train station, Convenient location for the city exploration, and, Being away from the hectic city atmosphere. As described, it was a tall order to find a hotel to accommodate...

This hotel was fantastic. The rooms are a good size. We had a two double bed room. The service is excellent. It is walking distance to the Shingawa train station which gives you access to all of Tokyo. I must say the Concierge was absolutely fantastic. We received excellent advice about how to navigate the Train and subway system. One...

This was our first time to Japan/Tokyo, and we had a wonderful time. The hotel room was great (clean and very spacious), and the gardens were beautiful. As a gold member, we were able to have the complimentary buffet breakfast in the hotel restaurant. The food was excellent, and they have the best bacon - it's super thin and crispy....

I was amazed by the hotel since the first step in the hotel. Very close to JR East Station! Will absolutely choose to stay here net time! It also has a very good Japanese style garden! If you are an elite member of Marriott or Ritz, you can have free breakfast. No lounge.

We chose this hotel partly for the proximity to the train station, partly for the reliability of the Marriott name. Was a wonderful choice. The service was first rate, the room was astonishingly large for a property at the center of the city. Walking up to the door, the feeling of being out of a busy city and on a...

Very nice hotel. Very comfortable. Hotel personnel like most inJapan very nice. Enjoyed the stay. Best thing was it was very close to the train, to travel anywhere you want. There is a market in the basement near the train station that had everything. It is a must go, buy and eat.

This was our second stay. First time about 6 months ago, second time during Golden Week in May for two nights. We love this hotel, and I hope to stay again next time we're in Tokyo. If you walk out of Shinagawa station, and across the bridge over the main roadway, turning right at the end, crossing one driveway, you...

The service is impeccable. The leafy, forest feel I get in this somewhat quiet part of town is special. I usually eat at off peak hours but I didn't have to wait for the breakfast table. I emailed before arriving asking for the same room I had last year and I quickly received a reply and received the room. What...

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
