Reasonably clean hotel. Rooms outdated and in need of maintenance. If they don't do some renovation now this place is gonna be a real dump in a few years. Also the hotel is not in the best part of town. If you want peace and quiet you'd better look for a hotel in another part of Tokyo.

Room was simple and small. Everything you need a bed and clean bathroom. 15min from main Shinjuku station. Interesting area. Pretty safe. Bright light. Even though this is known red light district you would never know. Staff were excellent always greet with a smile.

I just visited this hotel on end of March until begin of April. Hotel located in the Red Zone (Bar Girl, Host & Nightclub) and if you walk from Shinjuku Station it took around 20 minutes when you has a luggage it a bit far so I'm suggested you to print hotel map and take taxi it's better and it...

Found this hotel by chance and very happy with it! We dropped our bags at the hotel in the morning and came back later in the evening to check-in, and the hotel staff already put our bags in the room, saved us hauling the heavy bags :) Room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was big, complete with bathtub,...

Stayed at Hotel Villa Fontaine Shinjuku in the first week of December. Finding the hotel was not too difficult given that it is near to a hospital. That will also mean that you will regularly hear sirens around the area. Staff was okay in terms of service but struggled to understand basic English. Was disappointed that hotel doesn't provide complimentary...

The best thing about this hotel is its location, right in the middle of Kabukicho, a very funky neighborhood. This might be one the very few "normal" hotel in this place, clustered with love-hotels. Strolling around the hotel, in the day and of course at night, is an interesting experience, because it's quite happening and photogenic, especially at night after...

This was a decent stay. The hotels room looked very nice and I would say had the best shower heads I've ever experienced. However, Internet is about 500 yen a night which you would rent. Unfortunately, there's only a few that could be rented out and we couldn't because they were out. Internet should be free. The location is not...

The hotel location is in the heart of Kabukicho (red light!) and it can get confusing finding the hotel. One can take the south exit from Shinjuku station or exit from Shio-Okubo (about 10-15 min walk). As the red light district can get colorful, when choosing this hotel make sure you are comfortable with the idea and know what to...

While planning a two-week stay in Japan our only worry was the accommodation, as everybody says that hotels are quite expensive to stay in and the rooms are quite small. After days of research we managed to find the perfect mix - Hotel Villa Fontaine. The room was quite a decent size (if you can open the luggage on the...

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
