If you're after a central location, minutes from the hubbub of Shinjuku, but minus said hubbub in your face, the Listel's your place. Located adjacent to the Tokyo Medical University, the narrow street features several restaurants and cafes that rev into life in the evenings, and a great lunchtime cafe under the Imano Hostel just along the road. There's also... More

Stayed 5 nights in single room there. Very polite staff with good English. Location is 20min walking to central Shinjuku area, 7min walk to closest Metro station, also 6min walk to some restaurants, and 15min walk to much more restaurants! 7/11 shop across the street. Very clean room, not too big, but everything I needed. Nice view from the window... More

this hotel is OK for a few nights but would go crazy if I stayed much longer. The rooms are tiny and the window very small, although the view of the city and river is OK. Aircon not that good so would be very uncomfortable in the warmer weather. No safe in the room although there is a small fridge.... More

I've just spent 9 days at the Listel and would happily go back there. There isn't a huge foyer with a hundred bell-boys bustling around but there is a helpful, English-capable staff, a great breakfast buffet with both Japanese and Western options and the rooms are spotless. It's in a quiet, safe backstreet with a 7-11 convenience store directly opposite.,... More

This hotel is in a central location in Shinjuku. It is very easy to walk to Shinjuku Sanchome station from here. The service was average as was the overall vibe of the hotel. I recommend getting a non smoking room and asking for a high level because the view from the window is pretty special. This hotel is fine for... More

I know hotels in Japan can be on the small side but as a pair of westeners visiting Japan for the first time, it did come as a shock. First and formost if you are a non smoker make sure you inform reception when you book it, otherwise you may end up with a very smokey smelling room The plus... More

when we first arrived it was down a little street at night and wondered about the choice despite any reservations , the hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful , there is a 7-11 outside for food and drink and a few bars down the street , the hotel was clean and hardly any noise and the room... My brother and I stayed at Hotel Listel for two nights. The room was adequate, although I would recommend specifying a non-smoking room as we did not and the smell was noticeable. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotels location was a little out of the way, down a side... More

Rooms are better then the reception shows, reception area looks a bit old but the rooms are just fine, walking distance from shinjuku golden gai is nice. About 10 minutes from subway. All in all nothing special but also not bad. Good place to stay for a few nights.

Hard to find as it is off the Main Street. Needed google maps to locate the property! It is in need of refurbishing as it is quite old fashioned inside. Room very basic, buffet breakfast also very basic. Staff helpful at the reception desk. Probably would not recommend or stay here again!

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
