After much agonising over not only where to stay in Tokyo but how much to spend, we settled on the Hotel Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku. It can be quite difficult to find reasonably priced twin bed rooms in Tokyo. We were so pleased with our choice - the hotel far exceeded our expectations. Our room was comfortably sized, which was a...

Stayed at Hotel Sunroute Higashi Shinjuku for 7 days in May 17. Overall experience good, nice quite room, comfortable bed & friendly staff. Convenience stores close by, good restaurant next door (Royal Host). Only complaint is that it's too far from the main Shinjuku area, in Tokyo you do a lot of walking & the last thing you want is...

We decided to stay in Shinjuku due to its convenience to go to other places in Japan, whether it is via trains or buses (e.g. a direct bus from Shinjuku station to Fuji five lake region). We chose Sunroute mainly because we could take a bus from the airport directly to the hotel. Taxis are expensive and trains from the...

The hotel is a typical Japanese hotel with the simple amenities and room design. The good thing about the hotel is that it is just beside the train station. However, I would prefer to stay at the Hotel Sunroute near the Shinjuku station. In any case, this is an okay hotel to stay at for people with a budget.

On arrival into Shinjuku station we were a little disappointed to realise that the hotel was at least 20 - 25 minutes walk away. We later realised that there was a metro station very closeby. Check-in wasn't until 2pm. We were only around 30 minutes early but we were told that our room was not available so we had to...

Located within walking distance to Shinjuku, this hotel is great for the peace it brings in contrast to the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. The subway, Higashi Shinjuku, is just at a short walk away. This station will bring you to the popular areas in Tokyo fast enough! The staff are courteous and helpful. The room is clean. A very...

We got a simple double bedroom room with a shower, bath and toilet. Had everything you needed in it's perfectly sized small space. The receptionists were amazing and spoke quite good english. They also have a restaurant downstairs which does a cheap offer for buffet breakfast which was great.

I booked Standard non-smoke single room, the room size is standard in Japan (small but comfortable for one) Friendly Staff , English Speaker Convenience locations , next to Higashi-Shinjuku Station, so it is easy to move around. Close to convenience stores 7-11, Lawson, Family Mart

Staying in Shinjuku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.
