Excellent newly refurbished budget hotel at super budget price (wotif). Very conveniently located 100m from East exit of Ikebukuro station (just turn left at top of stairs and walk past electronic shops to smallish hotel entrance). Room (1010) was quite spacious (we boooked a twin room noting the double beds were on the narrow side). Bathroom (shower only) was new...

The b ikebukuro just opened this year and is at a very convenient and easy to find location. It has modern furnishings and the rooms and bathrooms are tastefully decorated. I loved the Rain/massage showers! Although rooms in Tokyo are small, our room was reasonably-sized, and very neat and clean. Housekeeping and hotel staff were wonderful and very helpful. Check-in...

This hotel is crap… sorry for saying this but the hotel is the worst ever. When we returned to the hotel at midnight after a long day of walk in the city, we were shocked to realise that the door was not closed. It is not locked definitely, but the door wasn't even closed properly. So to say, the housekeeping...

I stayed at the b ikebukuro recently for 5 nights and I have to say I was impressed. First of all, the rooms are small, which should not come as too much of a surprise for a hotel in Tokyo. However, the recently refurbished/rebranded hotel is fresh and modern. The room reminded me somewhat of a ships cabin - compact,...

Stayed at The B twice in November, the rooms are small, however very comfortable. The new bathrooms are spotless, the showers are modern roomy and unJapanese. There is free internet conection in every room, free coffee in the foyer, and tea making in the room too. This hotel has international power outlets in the room, unusual in Japan. Well located...

The hotel was very good value for money. Although the rooms were small, everything was clean & modern and comfortable. Service was good. One problem though.Lack of aircon due to the hotel making it unavailable for anything but the summer months. Made it hard to sleep at night. For those unfamiliar with Tokyo, even in months like November it can...

So Ikebukuro is a little seedy off the main strip and there's not that much around the hotel itself beyond Sunshine. But at these prices, friendly helpful staff one minute walk to a well connected underground station you really can't go wrong. Opt for the premium rooms if it means you don't face out onto all the Pachinko places at...

Staying in Ikebukuro

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
