This is what you want for your first experience in Japan: friendly english speaking staff full of good advices, clean room, affordable price. Great facilities and common kitchen. The location is a quiet neighbourhood, 30 mins from downtown Tokyo and 20 mins from Shinjuku.

We stayed at Kimi Ryokan for the duration of our Japan trip. It is situated in a quiet area that was good, away from the busy streets. It was everything as described in all the reviews we read. We came in November, a day after the snow in Tokyo 'after 54 years'. Our room was just nice for the 3...

I stayed here when I first visited Japan. I was looking for a Ryokan experience but everything else is either out of Tokyo or very expensive. Kimi Ryokan is what you call a budget-ryokan. Price is very affordable. To book, you should email the management directly. The response was pretty quick. We booked a tatami room for 3. The room...

Stayed here during my visit to Tokyo. It was recommended by a friend. Lovely quaint ryokan in the Ikebukoro area. Shoes are not allowed so you will be asked to take them off at the reception. The room was ok, well appointed for a Japanese hotel. It smelled of mould but there was a dehumidifier in the room. I was...

Kimi Ryokan is a very conveniently located, just few minutes walk from Ikebukuro JR, so easy access to everything in Tokyo. My room was small, but for a solo traveler a sufficient size. Bedding very comfortable and soft. Room air-conditioned and with two electrical outlets, which was handy to charge both laptop and cell phone at the same time. Yukata...

I've stayed here twice on separate trips. It's a terrific place in Ikebukuro, run by wonderful owner and helpful staff. Clean, well-organized. Once I figured out how to turn on the heat, it was perfect. Would definitely return again.

My girlfriend and I checked in here recently and it's a beautiful, easy to find building. As soon as we got here, we were allowed early check in since our room was cleaned early and had a great conversation with the owner in the common room. The treatment here is better than most hotels! There is also a guitar for...

The location is great. I had the 6 mat room recommended for 2-3 people, the room size was sufficient. Unfortunately the room had a really bad damp smell which we were unable to get rid of. Bed were warm and comfortable.

Lovely traditional ryokan. Though the room is small, the beds were comfortable and the room was warm. The bathrooms were shared but there were two showers and two toilets per floor, and both were extremely clean and modern. The shared kitchen and common room had free green tea, a vending machine and a fridge. There was also a traditional Japanese...

We have been here for a week in January, lovely place, very clean, excellent staff and they speak English very well. I would recommend this place to anyone! It's not a 5 star hotel, but there is everything you may need. I will definitely come back here in the future. The location, as well, is perfect, close to the city...
