My husband, seven-year-old son and I stayed at the Hotel Metropolitan during the middle of November 2012. We were delighted to find that the hotel was as close to the Ikebukuro metro station as promised. Just follow the signs from within the station to the "metropolitan" exit, and the the hotel is almost within sight of the exit. The location...

We spent our first 3 nights in Japan at this hotel and couldn't have been happier. While not near the center of Tokyo, this hotel, as has been noted, is very close to the Ikebukuro train/subway station and is serviced by the airport limousine buses. We found the staff to be unfailingly courteous and helpful. This is a typical business...

This hotel is located just beside the Ikebukuro station. It is very convenient for tourist who are visiting Tokyo by themself by using the Subway and JR train. The service is good and hotel is very clean. However the free Wifi is only available in the lobby.

Hotel Metropolitan in Tokyo was easily accessible by a limousine bus which cost us $80 each one way directly in front of the hotel. The staff is quite pleasant and always acknowledges you each time you walk pass them. The best thing is the Ikebukuro Train Station which is close to the Metropolitan Plaza which houses Tobu Store and Lumine...

Was staying here for a short getaway. Hotel was clean and nice. Staff were helpful and polite, my check-in was hassle-free and was allowed to check in earlier (at 1pm). Stayed in their superior twin. Room amenities were standard with free internet (Wifi) in our room. Hotel's location is close to JR lines so it was a convenient place to...

The location is very good and convenience. Just next to JR Ikebukuro station and metro station, the room size is comparatively bigger than normal hotel in Japan. Only JPY500.00 to get wifi inside the room per stay.

I selected Hotel Metropolitan based upon its location to the Ikebukuro train station that is served by JREast, Tokyo Metro and the Tobu Tojo line. Easy access to all of the greater Tokyo metropolitan area. The hotel is rated "First Class," and surely lives up to its designation. The entire facilty is spotless and the rooms are well maintained and...

We used this hotel as our basic point of access in Tokyo and found this a very pleasant location. The hotel itself is good, quality standard is as expected and all services are being dealt with professional. Although they might have overkilled it a little with the amount of restaurants in the hotel, we did love the view from the...

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel in October 2012. The hotel is clean and big. The room size is good, not too small. We have got a room with a nice view of the city. Overall we were happy with the cleanliness, size and service at the hotel. The location of the hotel is great, it's in Ikebukuro...

Neighbourhood Profile
Ikebukuro
Ikebukuro is an area of massive development. Several thousand tenants occupy two giant department stores and shopping malls, where all sorts of shopping and gourmet foods can be enjoyed. The 60-story building at the east entrance of the station, Sunshine City, is a landmark within Ikebukuro and features an aquarium, planetarium, theme park as well as an observation platform. The popular name for the western side of this area is "Otome Road" (Maiden Road) and there are many shops selling products related to anime with a female theme. It has rapidly become the worldwide headquarters for ‘otaku’ or geek culture.
