The hotel with a totally new concept "Wa- modern" means Japanese) was born in "Okachimachi" where it keeps the most common Japanese culture. Our entrance area and front lobby were designed by the theme of "Japanese Glitz". All our guest rooms are functionally compact and fused with a traditional Japanese touch. Great location, it's only a 3 to 5-minute walk from 5 stations for several lines.

Great location for sight seeing around Tokyo. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Rooms are very small and there is a sign in the room saying not to open the window. Smoking room on the 4th floor but you can sometimes smell it through the rest of the floor (didn't bother me but incase you're not a fan of smoke)

Since the hotel was recently completed (in October) everything inside is brandspanking new. The hotel outside was very elegant and stylish and easy to spot from down the road (with it's bright red sign).

The room itself was a little narrow, but a given for Tokyo standards. Beds were comfortable and warm, although a little close to each other when side by side (we booked a twin). The bathroom was made for literally one person, but the basin was outside so there was no overcrowding. Shower was powerful and hot with shampoo, conditioner and body wash available to use.

Inside the room was a large, flat screen TV mounted on the wall and below was a small space perfect for 2 hold-alls. There were also plenty of outlets to charge devices on.

We were given a small toiletry pack upon arrival with a range of amenities to use (see photo). There was also a yukata for each guest.

Under the basin was a mini-fridge with complimentary bottles of water. Although it does hum during the night so if you're a light sleeper, I suggest bringing some earplugs.

This is a value hotel, our twin rooms cost £70 a night so we were not expecting luxury. The rooms are very small but it was a lovely place, very comfortable and with character. It is a sevne minute walk from the orbital JR Yamanote line which is great for getting around Tokyo. The staff are really lovely and there is a sweet bath/onsen/ hot tub on the roof.
There is no restaurant but there are shops and places to eat nearby. There is a kettle and fridge in the room. I would find it too cramped for a long stay - some rooms have little more than the bed space and a shower/ toilet. - but it was perfect for two or three nights as a cheap, clean comfortable base for Tokyo. Recommended. I would stay again

I stayed for a couple of nights in mid-April and wished I could have stayed longer. I would definitely stay here again if in Tokyo.

Location: excellent! The hotel is very conveniently located about 10 minutes walking from the Ueno-Okachimachi station on the Yamanote line (the main metro loop bringing you to most of the tourist attracions), about 2 stops from Tokyo Station making it very handy for getting to/from both airports, around Tokyo, and to catch the bullet train. It is in a residential neighbourhood - very quiet at night and completely safe. The neighbourhood is filled with nearby restaurants, shopping, convenience stores, and a nearby post office with ATMs. There is even a nice neighbourhood park nearby where you can sit underneath some cherry trees.

Facilities: excellent but tiny. It was a small room, as typical for Japan. Two adults with large luggage would have difficulty fitting in the room. Although the room was tiny, it was spotless and efficient. The bed and pillow were very comfortable. There were separate areas for the toilet, sink, and shower so if you are a couple, no waiting for the bathroom to be free. The shower was larger than a standard North American shower stall with hot water and great water pressure. Although you can control the room temperature, you can also open the windows if you prefer fresh air. Walls seemed pretty soundproof - although the hotel was full, I never heard any noise from other guests. The best part was the private rooftop hot tub, with a view of Tokyo Tower. A relaxing soak is the perfect way to end a long day of sightseeing!

Service: excellent. Front staff spoke enough English, were very professional, and worked hard to ensure that my stay was as pleasant as possible. They were able to answer my questions especially to help me navigate around a mega-metropolis in a foreign language.

Located in the northern town centre, quite near Ueno Park, this hotel is very well placed in a quiet residential area.
Rooms are very small...opening luggage does take some planning...but they are well appointed and have a huge TV despite the room size.
Decor is very Japanese and stylishly done.
The private hot tub on the roof is good fun and is easily booked for your private use.
Breakfasts are less good and worth avoiding the extra cost.
Overall, value for money is excellent, staff were very welcoming and helpful and I would have no problem about staying again

We stayed at this hotel in January 2018 for 4 nights while we visited Tokyo.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and well-maintained. It has a gorgeous lobby which really makes you feel that you have arrived in Japan! Upon arrival, each guest is given a lovely wash kit that contains all the things you might need for your stay and the staff were very kind and helpful, despite the late hour.

We had booked to stay in a small double non-smoking room. It was a very small room but I had seen this mentioned in other reviews so I wasn't all that surprised. It also seems that most rooms, particularly in Tokyo, are like this! We managed just fine and put our backpacks at the door when we were not using them and used the shelves and the space at the end of the bed to store things. The bed itself was comfortable and we slept really well. As our duvet just fitted the bed, I had to ask Reception for blankets, but they came up right away! Guests are provided with a really pretty yukata (cotton robe) and slippers which were just so lovely to wear. They also provide hairdryer, hair tongs and all sorts of things in the room. The bathroom was compact but more than adequate for us and we really enjoyed our stay here.

The hotel is in a great location and a short walk from three stations with access to several lines: Naka-Okachimchi (Hibiya Line) Ueno-Okachimachi (Toei Subway - Oedo Line, take you to the sumo hall in case you get a chance to go!) and Okachimachi (JR Yamanote and JR Keihin-Tohoku) A further 5-10 minutes walk north from these stations is Ueno, a main station with access to several metro and JR lines. There are several convenience stores close to the hotel as well as a large market on the other side of the Okachimachi station with tons of restaurants and bars. Additionally, you can also get to Ueno park from here which is home to the Tokyo National Museum as well as several other museums. It really is a beautiful park and quite nice to sit with a coffee and people watch.

Ueno is a great base for exploring the city and I'd recommend this hotel to others.

This is a reasonable tourist hotel, and a good base for exploring Tokyo. Okachi Machi station is about 5-10 minutes walk. Staff were helpful and there is a private hot spa on the rooftop which can be reserved (500 Yen). Breakfast is available but must be booked the night before. The rooms were comfortable enough, although the beds were very firm. Avoid staying in a non smoking room on the 4th floor, as this is the same floor as the smoking room. The lobby outside the room had a strong smoke smell. Wifi worked well in the room.

We were staying in Japan for the Christmas and New Year period and found this hotel to be the perfect location to see what Tokyo had to offer. Just five minutes walk from Okachimachi station, this hotel is quite easy to find and around a very quiet neighbourhood which is VERY safe.

The staff are very friendly and willing to assist you if you need something for your room and they take care of your room key while you're out so you don't lose it. Each room has a special unique touch to it with a beautifully woven themed wallpaper; but that's just an aesthetic touch.

The bathrooms may be quite small but what space they have is used effectively and the facilities are excellent and easy to use which is what you need to either get yourself going for a day being a tourist or recovering from a long day out! Everything else makes use of the space it has and it's excellent.

All in all, if you want to a cute and affordable AND safe base of operations for a stay in Japan, this is the best option.

Hotel is in a pretty good location, about a 10 minute walk from the nearest station (train and subway). Great little area with convenience stores and local restaurants all around.
The only downsides...the room is tiny, even for Tokyo, not an issue if you are close with the person you’re staying with but keep it in mind, also no laundry services available.
Rooftop spa bath is free for all guests and a lovely way to end the day.
Friendly staff, overall a really pleasant stay

Very beautiful and stylish hotel. Rooms are a bit small, but that's no surprise in Tokyo.

Very nice staff, they give you complementary toiletry bags!

The bathroom ist very modern: hightech toilet and shampoo, bodywash and hair conditioner available.

Everything is very clean!

Big plus is also the hot tub on the roof - only 500 Yen for 45 minutes, definitely worth it!!!!

The location is okay, quiet neighborhood with supermarkets around. But you can walk over to Ueno, where there are a lot of restaurants and the train to the airport.

Would recommend and stay again, great place!
