My daughter’s boss recommended this place - a true gem! Roomy, sparklingly clean, and perfectly appointed with chic, contemporary Japanese style, a nice kitchen area for meals and board games, and 4 comfy beds so that we could all stay together. The front desk staff was cheerful and welcoming, and went out of their way to satisfy our many requests, including a list of terrific restaurant recommendations. This hotel is also well located too—a quick walk to the Ueno Train Station giving easy access to all of Tokyo. I wish I could find the Mimaru East in every city I visit!!

Staff at Mimaru are very accommodating and welcoming. They promptly replied to all my queries sent by e-mail even prior to our trip.
Stayed twice during our 11-day Japan trip last December. We got the same room on both stays, which has 2 single beds and a bunk bed. My kids love the bunk bed! They said that among the hotels we have stayed in Japan, Mimaru was their most favorite. I have no negative comments on the room and service as they were all superb during our stay. We just hoped that the laundry machine was in-room rather than in a common area on the ground floor and complimentary bottled water was provided. These are just recommendations though, because our stay was great overall.
Thank you so much, Mimaru! Thank you to the wonderful staff and for the Christmas present to the kids when we were there. Hope to be back again in the future.

Very pleased with stay. Highly recommend. Fairly priced with good accommodations. Last minute booking for family traveling with a dog (7.5kg). Clean, minimal, but very functional space that included Kitchenette, full size dining table and seating, beds for 4, shower room with soaking tub. Pet accommodation for dog no larger than 15 kg (33lbs) include medium/large wire crate, cushioned dog bed, small food and water bowls on stand, and in room cleaning supplies (see pics). Nonsmoking in all rooms, even pet rooms which is great! (Often pet rooms are doubled as smoking rooms and having allergies to cigarette smokes makes such room miserable- this is not the case at this hotel- yay!) Roof top access for cityscape views and getaway to relax in hammocks and drink coffee in the morning or take in the city lights at night. Friendly front desk staff. Pay parking available in immediate vicinity if you have to drive in, recommend taking train in if you can, will pay 20,000 yen ($187) for two days of weekend parking in the area. Very centralized location quick 3 minute walk to major train station, 11 minute walk to national museum/zoo/science museum/art museums/concert hall/temples, easy 20 minute walk through mostly quiet neighborhoods to Asakusa shopping area and senso-ji temple and pagoda. Will consider booking again if back in area, will also consider other properties in other locations if they are all like this one. Good job to the staff there. Hope to see you again.

The room was overall great. The kitchen is good. The dining table and chairs are good. The restroom is also great. The employees are also kind and helpful. You can even borrow games from the front desk. You can tell how the hotel is trying to make the guests feel as much as comfortable as they can. The only downside is that the sheets are changed every 3 days. Every 2 days would be great in my opinion.

Our Japan ski trip had a few other stays and this hotel was our "base camp" for Tokyo and then branching out using the Shinkansen to take us to other places. The hotel is only a few blocks from Ueno station, and even with two big roller cases we were able to use the sidewalks and elevator to cross the street. The hotel was kind enough to let us leave a bag when we went out to our other mini-trips, and they introduced us to a luggage service that delivered our bags to Narita so we didn't have to lug them when taking the train back to the airport.
The rooms were clean and ours had a great table and chair area to spread our things out. Coffee, tea, toothbrush, toothpaste and a few other goodies are complementary. A convenience store is a block away if you want to bring in snacks, and you are steps from many great restaurants around town.
The team at the front counter was friendly and helped us with storing our bags and recommending some local restaurants.

As you have mentioned, our apartment hotel is located near Ueno station ( 5-8 minutes if you use Iriya Exit). Besides there are 24 hours supermarket, convenience stores and restaurants. Our staff are also trying their best to provide our valuable guests better service. As our hotel is an apartment hotel aimed for families and group travelers so that the rooms are wide enough for Tokyo standard(as you have mentioned) and we also provide basic kitchen utensils. You can cook just like still at your home, if you fell don't want to eat outside. We chose this hotel as we are staying with a 3 and a 6 years old and have chosen a room with tatami. The kids love the tatami area for playing and sleeping, and is good to keep them playing away from the dining table.
The reception is friendly and speaks well English. There are coin laundry and dryers which are very helpful on summer days! The hotel provides children friendly utilities such as sanitizers for milk bottles, bed rails, diapers etc. (they even asked us the diaper size beforehand!). The range of kitchenware and appliances are more than enough with provision of paper towels and plastic wraps.
The location is a little far from Skyliner at Ueno Keisei (around 10 minutes), but it's very convenient to Ueno JR and metro. The area is relatively safe at night time (we didn't go out past 9:30pm though). We will definitely find a Mimaru hotel if we visit Japan next time.

We arrived at 6am after a fight from Australia and while the reception wasn't yet staffed, the security person was able to check us in which was awesome. When we met the reception staff later that morning they were so friendly and helpful - a great welcome to Japan. The location is excellent with a short walk to the train station and many restaurants and attractions.
We are a family of four adults and the room was big enough for us with the four single beds and very spacious by Japanese standards. The kitchen/dining area was spacious enough and the bathroom layout worked well for us as a family. I would stay here again when travelling as a family and happily recommend Mimaru to anyone who asks.

We chose this hotel in large part because of location near the Yamanote line and you can book connecting family rooms (and those family rooms (a) are a scratch larger than other options and (b) have a slatted wooden feature between the sitting vs. sleeping area to separate the spaces just the tiniest bit). Overall we were very satisfied. The rooms were comfortable, the front desk staff helpful, and we made use of the roof deck for some yoga/stretching and the coin laundry. Next time, when traveling with a smaller group, I'd probably opt for somewhere with better restaurants nearby, but if you are traveling with a larger family, I'd recommend it.

We were arivve @23.00, but access to get hotel is very easy from Keisei Ueno Station, just by walk !
Hotel Location is very tranquil but near from train or MRT station, store which sale food or the think for life needs is easy. The room clean and big enough for 4 adult plus a child. There are a separated toilet and bathroom. And the important think is a kitchen, so you can cooking for your family.

Our hotel is located near JR Ueno station and it takes approximately 5 minutes of walking from the Iriya Exit to our hotel. It takes about 4 min to walk to 7-11 and Lawson convenience store.You can also go to the supermarket MARUETSU supermarket 10 mins on foot. Hotel is a fair walking distance to Ueno Station, to Ueno Park, restaurants and shopping. Closed to convenience stores where we get our breakfast, snacks and drinks. The room was nice with comfortable beds, mini dining table, microwave, fridge, utensils.
The room size was ok, not too spacious though when we try opening our 3 luggages and carry ons. The toilet and bathroom was fine but it's kinda suffocating when closing as there's no window. The view from our room was nice overlooking the buildings in Tokyo and also seeing the beautiful sunrise and sunsets.
The staff were lovely and speak/ understand English. The washing/ dryer is located somewhere at reception area. You need to use 100 yen coins X more to use these machines. It's nice that we got an app in the room where it notifies you how long is your washing until it's done, whether it's occupied or vacant. No need to go up and down to check manually. The detergent does not have a fragrant smell though and for the dryer - you need to put more coins to get it all dried up. Our ones came a bit damp. i asked for a folding rack to dry them in our room but they don't have it. Anyhow, we had a lovely stay. Thank you.

Hi yes. There are 2 windows in the bed area where you can slide open for air. We didn't really open much as it was hot and humid during that time. We were at 11th floor I think and the view were buildings and apartments but we can still see the nice sky. I'll try to include pics in this if I figure out how to.
Thank you for your question! Of course, the capacity of storing space is limited, but If you wish to leave no more than 5 cases we will store it at our office till your next check in!
