Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Excellent location: About a 4-minute walk from Metro Ginza Line [Denenmachi Station]. It is very convenient to travel between Ueno, Akihabara and Ginza. It's about a 6-minute walk from Toei Asakusa Station (elevator entrance). It is a good choice to travel between Haneda & Narita. Public area: The social space is bright and spacious. The most commendable thing is the bathroom. Although there are only 4 bathing stalls, it is unusually spacious and makes you wash away after a long day. Accommodation space: Capsules are roughly divided into two categories. Generally, there are upper and lower capsules. The space is really oppressive, but it is still within a reasonable range. The indoor air-conditioning is extremely strong. Even in the summer of August, the capsule is not stuffy and you even need to put on a thin quilt when falling asleep. A high-end capsule, the interior height is about twice that of an ordinary capsule, and there is luggage storage space directly underneath. Pretty good design. shortcoming: The counter is only open after 10 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m. Visitors arriving early in the morning should be careful. Washing machines & dryers are not available. Partners who have needs in this regard must also be considered.

Fantastic location, just 5 minutes walk from the subway and 10 minutes from Asakusa temple. The capsule didn't have TV, but it was OK for me. Free wifi in all the areas and nice guest room where you can eat and drink food from outside. The hotel was clean, but doesn't have hot bathroom and has only two showers for each floor.

This is a very cheap hotel, with nice clean capsules, free toothbrush and razor blade, showers and so forth. It's in asakusa right near the sky tree and a little walk from the tsukuba express that will get you to Akihabara. You can also walk about a mile from ueno station to get here. For the price I don't think you can beat this place very easily in Tokyo.

Room Tip:You might not want to be in asakusa it's a seedier side of Tokyo. There's a lot of "girl bars"...

Facilities are very well organized although it's not a place to meet people as everybody just keep to themselves. My only problem was the mattress was too thin. I felt like sleeping on wood. If you don't have back problems then you will be fine.

Stayed a few days when we first arrived in Japan. Nice hotel, but nothing incredible. Would recommend for anyone working within a budget that needs somewhere you only need for sleeping/resting - was a nice place to stay when first arriving in Tokyo and getting used to our surroundings.

I stayed in Lightning Hotel on the 4th day it was open. Even though I was the first non-Japanese guest, I never had a moment where I couldn’t communicate with the staff. Everyone was so friendly, professional and accommodating - I never wanted to leave! The whole building is new, incredibly clean, very well thought out and perfect for budget travellers needs. The pods were comfortable, well lit, and very well designed. The storage areas (either a lockable cupboard or area beneath the capsule, depending on budget) were accessible, well lit and perfect for purpose. The lounge could use a kettle and drinking water, but other than that has everything - a vending machine, a machine dispensing free hot and cold Sencha Tea, Doutour Coffee, and 2 types of sweet citrus drink. The microwave is powerful and clean, there is ample place to sit and relax and the TV is visible from anywhere in the room. Although the hotel in right in the centre of the madness that is Asakusa, it is incredibly quiet and relaxed. Wifi is fast and accessible everywhere on the property. Showers/ bathrooms are spacious and clean - although I would have preferred cooler water in the taps for brushing teeth and washing hands. The toilets are clean and well lit. The team running the place, from the Vietnamese house keepers (who are super helpful and friendly) to the staff at the front desk (special shout out to Taku for being a super affable host and incredibly accommodating and genuine) and all the way to the manager who always had time to stop and chat, and went out of his way to improve every little aspect of your day. I can’t recommend this place highly enough!

My experience here was great. Close to all forms of food, entertainment and culutre. As for the hotel, was kinda disapointed because they call it a hotel but it operates as a hostel; other than that, its very clean and the staff are very nice. Showers are great the capsules are comfortable. I would reccomend this to anyone flying by themselves or with friends. Not too sure on couples but they do have private room options. Again Highly reccomend this hotel.
