The location is convenient, right next to Ueno Park. Only less than 5 min. Walk to tram station with nearby shopping and restaurants. The room was clean and reasonable space, even come with message chair. Overall a nice hotel stay.

I knew Tokyo hotels were small and this was my first time staying in one - yes it is extremely small. If you had your luggage (we had two) laid out opened, you'd have literally no space to walk. You don't have much space just to put stuff in the room, but I came knowing it would be a small...

I had been looking into this hotel for some time because of the great review and finally I got to experience it myself recently. I booked the hotel a few months in advance, my flight was canceled due to the weather. So the hotel was flexible enough to allow date change without having to create another booking though I notified...

Our 3rd year in a row staying with them and we weren't disappointed. We love the place, the location, the friendly staff and cleanliness of the room. Each room comes with a foot massager and pillow which after a snowboarding holiday is invaluable to us. Always spotless, nice breakfast and staff have always gone out of their way to help...

The standard rooms here are so small, you can barely move past the bed. We upgraded to a larger room, which we could only get a Japanese style, so the bedding was on the floor and it still wasn't much bigger. The bathroom was ridiculously tiny, almost putting an elbow through the wall when showering. Rooms felt very claustrophobic. Clean,...

The room is extremely small--if you're big, this is probably not for you. I'm a 165cm lady and it fits me fine -- this is the only drawback, oh I didn't like the towels very much and would normally prefer white ones. Apart from that, everything is just beyond your expectation. I'll definitely stay there again. (Didn't quite like the...

I arrived around noon and the check-in time was 2pm. Hotel would not budge and I ended up wondering (half awake) into the Starbucks at JR station. On a side note, that Starbucks ha e no free wifi. My room was clean, very very tiny, but thoughtful amenities from breathing strips for those who snore, to fabric deodorizer, to toiletries....

I've been this hotel for 4 nights with my 2 kids during cherry blossom season. They didn't charge any extra cost for my children (Both Stay and Breakfast). Breakfast is free and very good taste. Front desk officer are kind and willing to help.

The Coco Grand Ueno was a great spot for our one night in Tokyo. Easy to get to Ueno station from the Narita express, and only 5min walk from the station, which also meant easy to get back the next morning to train to Kanazawa. The people at reception were friendly, and in fact gave us a superb tip to...

A fantastic hotel right near Ueno Park (lake side) and near subways and train stations. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in organising my bus ticket to the Mt Fuji area - something that is not easy to do online when you can't read Japanese. The rooms are small, as is the case in most Japanese hotels, but comfortable. Squeezing...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
