Detailed Reviews
Let’s start with the bad, the reception counter is virtual and the operators are outside of Japan. They are not helpful. We called at 255 to check in they made us call back in 5 minutes, the same person acted like they didn’t know us then, they took 30 minutes to check us in.
Later we found out they hadn’t made up two of the beds, they said they would help then didn’t,
We came back down and they started saying that kids under six didn’t get their own bedding… we are pretty sure they never asked us our kids age and were just lying. Eventually a Japanese employee came to our rescue and was very helpful. The onsite staff are kind, and nice, but they are housekeeping and really can’t help much.
When finally an employee came in person he was very apologetic.
Overall the hotel is great, but the virtual receptionist who are outside of Japan are very regrettable.
The rooms are clean, location is great.

Response from Marketing SQUEEZE, Owner at Minn Ueno
Responded 21 Jun 2024
Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences and dissatisfaction you experienced during your stay. As you mentioned, we acknowledge there were issues with communication with our virtual reception, which caused delays during your check-in process and resulted in the bedding not being properly arranged for your children. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused by these shortcomings. We also recognize the need for improvement in the responsiveness and support provided by our housekeeping and other staff members. We sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations in these areas. On the other hand, we are pleased to hear that you found the rooms clean and our location convenient. Nevertheless, we regret that our service quality did not fully meet your expectations. We appreciate your valuable feedback and will take necessary steps to enhance our services going forward. If you could provide further details of your experience, it would greatly assist us in addressing these issues. Please do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we can do for you. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide a better experience in the future.

This hotel is in a great location. Lots of shops and restaurants around. We were looking for a bigger room which is hard to find in Tokyo. Our room sleeps six. It’s more like an apartment service which only has staff at the front desk sometimes but you can always call in from the tablet at the front desk. We didn’t get housekeeping service but we didn’t care because we only stayed 4 nights. The only complaint I have is the dust in the room. I put my hand on surfaces and lots of dust came up.

We like this hotel very much, it suited us well having a little extra space with a roomy couch in the room. Our room had a nice view of Skytree and we loved its proximity to Ueno Station, Ameyoko market, and transportation. Beds and lighting were great. We liked that the neighborhood was so quiet at night. Check in was pretty easy once you get over that no one is at the desk. No breakfast offered, Family Mart, Lawson's, and nearby food halls provided plenty of housekeeping options.
Disliked · The lack of staffing at the front desk meant that we may have waited an additional night without our delayed luggage. No bowls provided in the kitchen. Not a lot of restaurants in the immediate area, but you really don't have to go far.

Last hotel we stayed at during our stay in Japan. Comparing this hotel to all the other places we stayed at I’d rate Minn Ueno as a 1/10
Confusing check-in. (unmanned reception). If you don’t have an IPhone you check in via the IPad at reception - this didn’t work properly - and eventually a very annoyed person came from the back room. We felt very unwelcome.
I noticed same issues with other guests checking in during our stay.
Basic Kitchen, but lacked utensils, cups and frypan.
pillows hard/lumpy, Doona had a musty smell.
Only one bath towel & hand towel per person for length of stay.
Had an issue with Wifi log in, emailed for help solving this issue and told to go to reception and lodge request by IPad. Again IPad not working properly and no interest in helping solve this very basic issue.
Overpriced considering lack of service and facilities in room.
The laundry was good, the location was good
I’ve noticed Minn Ueno hide negative comments/complaints… so expect my feedback will probably disappear quickly.

I made a reservation with minn on a certain platform a month ago, but on the day of check-in, I still had to check in with the minn iPad staff. They also said that we had not paid before and it would take a lot of time to check in again. There was no one at the front desk and there was nothing. The service was promised by the staff on the day of departure. Two weeks later, they responded via email and said that the minn staff had not promised it and would charge us a surcharge. It was an untrustworthy hotel.

+1
Minn Ueno was a very good experience. Its location near Ueno Station made it easy to get around the city. The room was spacious and functional, with everything I needed to feel at ease, from kitchen appliances to comfortable furniture. The modern décor was a nice touch, and the check-in process was hassle-free. A great option for travelers looking for convenience and comfort in Tokyo.

Really 4.5 stars
Good --The room was very spacious for 2 people there was a dining table for 6 with four chairs and 2 sofas besides the queen size bed. The size was large enough to hold 3 2 let bottles in the door. Newish furniture. Modern bordering on minimalist decor. It would be a nice studio apartment for a Batchelor wanting to impress a date. One of the fancier toilets I've ever experienced. View of Tokyo sky tree.1/4 mile to 2 subway stations and big supermarket and Ameyko street yet you don't feel your in a tourist trap.there are 4 washers available For only 56 rooms!
Bad--or at least not so good...there is no daily housekeeping : to change the trash you notify the "office" and leave the trash outside the door for pick up and you get a new trash bag. The "front Desk"is not staffed physically. Transactions --check in, check out, etc are done via QR code. Front desk when the person is present may not speak English well ; you call a more proficient English soaker via a tablet at the front desk or e-mailing of texting them. I found e-mailing communication the most reliable and helpful.
Tldr: this is nice place to stay to do laundry and if you are used to air bnb where you don't get housekeeping.

Unfortunately, we don't offer a dry cleaning service, but there is a shop just around the corner.
