The hotel and the room were immaculately clean and very functional. The bathroom was of good size for Japan. The bed, sheets and quit were very comfortable. The staff was professional and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel. The hotel is close to shops, 7-11 and tourist sites. Location is very good BUT the...

A new great hotel overlooking the temple grounds and offering a great skyline at night. Steps from the temple grounds, old shopping arcades and the old Geisha/Samurai district. The room was very comfortable and quite spacious for Japan, our room was located at 13th floor. Amenities were excellent with numerous choices of facial products. Staff were very friendly. A wonderful...

This was our first experience in Japan and, on a cold and wet day, the reception at the front desk was exemplary and continued throughout our stay. The rooms were fine and well equipped: not huge but bigger than we had expected and we had a great view of Tokyo Skytree. Location is good: a few minutes away from Senso-Jim...

Good sized room - I had expected it to be smaller! Everything you need in the room including laundered pyjamas, and great bathroom facilities. Not much of a view from our room, but at the end of the corridor was a great view of the Tokyo Skytree. No restaurant for evening meals, although there is a restaurant for breakfast and...

Location: The Richmond Hotel premier international is located a short 15 minute walk from Asakusa station. If you are coming from Narita airport you catch the train to Ueno station and then change to the Asakusa line there, don’t worry about this, this was our first visit to Japan, simply walk to the train ticket desk and ask for a...

Nice comfortable hotel. We stayed here for a night on transit to Sapporo. Near a large shopping centre and grocery store. Very convenient. Nice staff. Hotel room was also very comfortable and walking distance to some eateries.

First of all, the staffs are very helpful andI got an early check-in. They also have vending machines and coin-laundry machines inside the hotel. Only stayed for a night but was quite pleased with the hotel. Now for the only bad point.. but please note that this might only happens to me. I liked to stay barefeet when inside my...

Asakusa must be the best area of Tokyo to stay in terms of its local feel. Shops, restaurants and bars all with a very local feel to it. The hotel is 5 minutes or less of a walk to the amazing Sensoji Shrine (go at night when it is lit up and less crowded). There are shops to buy food...

Very well located in Asakusa centre and walking distance for major attractions. 10 minutes from Asakusa station. The staff are extremely kind and always trying to help in any way. The rooms are small but anyway bigger than standard Japanese rooms. All amenities in room and very comfortable decoration. You have to pay the breakfast at the small restaurant at...

From check in to check out everything went very well. We got a little welcome present from the staff which was very nice. Room are spacious, calm. The area has everything to please any tourists and locals. The breakfast room is small and crowded but it was OK. Breakfast is short on fresh fruits and more Asian orientated

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
