Guests often commend the dedicated staff and the serene, spacious rooms that offer a peaceful retreat. The usual hotel in this area had closed. I have been to The Gate for drinks before but never stayed. This was our first time. We were able to secure two rooms during the busy Sakura season. The check-in staff was friendly and professional. Both rooms we had were comfortable, especially clean and quiet. They were well equipped with a coffee maker, kettle, refrigerator, high pressure shower, robot toilet, clean, comfortable bed, etc. We did have a slight problem figuring out how to use the AC but ended up opening the window. There were no English TV channels which was fine since Japanese television is more interesting. The WiFI worked well. We enjoyed the views from the 14th floor albeit was a little windy. We did not dine at the restaurant but did view the breakfast buffet which look fresh and abundant. We were too late one evening for a drink as it appeared the bar closed at 10pm. We would definitely stay again. The location was close to several train stations, tourist areas, etc. This area is much quieter than busier Shibuya/Shinjuku areas which we prefer better. Everyone was so nice. We cannot wait to return.

Really nice and well located hotel.
Short walk to the Gate , Temple and Asakusa station, 20 minutes to Skytree.
We had 9th floor corner room with views of all 3 attractions.
Room perfectly equipped , nice wet room and bath .
Coffee machine, safe, fridge, everything you could want.
American Breakfast very high quality but only 3 set choices .
Evening restaurant again nice although a bit pricey.
Lots of small Japanese restaurants in locality, English spoken to to varying degrees . Always helpful.
We arrived very early but as is the Japanese way no chance of early check in, very politely refused.
Next door to a , very Japanese, supermarket.Snacks and beer available but no recognisable take out meals.
Rooftop bar a great place to relax with an evening drink and great views.
A very classy hotel in a ,I suppose ,what asses for a peaceful area of Tokyo ( it’s all relative ) a good base from which to explore if perhaps a bit far from main station hubs , although your pasmo card will get you everywhere.

Firstly, this hotel was the perfect base to explore Tokyo. Secondly, the staff made every effort to help our accessibility issues. My wife uses a folding electric scooter, and everyone made sure our room was perfect, our access everywhere was easy and that she had a brilliant experience. The bar on the roof is up two flights of stairs and would have been out of reach - but staff constantly offered us the use of a staff lift. Really nice people, and genuinely helpful.
Some staff were exceptional. Every member of staff in the restaurant for breakfast was lovely. We had some amazing food, fresh orange juice, French toast and some amazing speciality dishes too. The lady looking after our table made sure we had everything we could wish for, and the chef was also brilliant.
The reception staff were impressive. Professional, spoke so many languages (and their English was amazing) and unlike many hotels, these staff really listened to the customer and made sure they were providing what the customer needed. Exceptionally good service in my opinion - I would recommend staying here for anyone visiting Tokyo for the first time.

There is a light fragrance as soon as you enter the door. It smells comfortable. You have to take the elevator to 13F to check in. You can see the night view and clear sky on the top floor. The lobby is beautifully designed. The environment of the room tower is clean, the bathroom has a bathtub for taking a bath, the wet and dry are separated, and the floor is easy to dry. The location is good and the transportation is convenient. It is also very close to the Nakamise Street shopping street. If you arrive late, there is an access control. There is also a supermarket downstairs of the hotel where you can buy things. Unfortunately, it rained that day and I didn’t see the night view. The overall service was great. My family They all thought it was great. If I come to Asakusa next time, I will stay here again!! The CP value is good~ It is recommended to come here to relax and stroll around Asakusa leisurely~ It is a good experience

We arrived on an early flight but were not able to check in early, but we could store our luggage. Lobby in on the 13th floor. We had a very nice sized corner room. It included a large bed, table and chairs, electric kettle, coffee and tea. The bathroom had a great soaking tub, rain shower and everything from toothbrushes to hairbrushes and pajamas! Breakfast was nice with a choice of 3 main courses and a small buffet. Great view from the lobby and restaurant. We had an early departure and the hotel arranged a taxi for us to the airport. This was a comfortable hotel and the location was excellent close to both metro lines, lots of restaurants and a charming, older part of Tokyo. The staff was nice, but communication was challenging due to language.

A great hotel in an amazing location that is quite comfortable for the cost. We only stayed one night but I was incredibly impressed by the service I received by several of the front desk staff when I informed them upon checking in that I left my backpack on the Tokyo subway. They proceeded to help me track and ultimate find my bag and interpreted so I could go pick it up back at the Narita station the following morning. When that took much longer than anticipated, they allowed me to still get breakfast when I returned a few minutes later than the breakfast time and then also allowed us a late check out. I would highly recommend this place based solely on that but you also cannot beat the incredible location and the quality of the hotel for the price.

We stayed at The Gate for 4 nights on our trip around Japan. We arrived direct from the airport earlier than the check in time however, our room was ready and we took advantage (after a 17hr journey). The staff were very accommodating and couldn't have been more helpful during our stay. The hotel is located a short distance from the Asakusa metro station, tourist office and Senso-ji temple (the oldest in Tokyo). Breakfast was varied (pasta, chips, french toast and traditional Japanese) and delicious and the views from the restaurant (and roof top bar) are pretty special. We loved it here.

We booked a Deluxe Double on a high floor - non smoking (room 1005). it was large, well laid out, with a good conversation sofa area & desk near the view windows which we enjoyed every evening with our friends before dinner. The bed was very comfortable with good linens.

We could see the Gate from our windows and all the street life with locals and tourists alike enjoying the multitude of shops and restaurants. We felt we were in the centre of Tokyo but could easily walk almost everywhere & the "GO" taxis were abundant when it was too far to walk.

Lunch in the hotel restaurant was so delicious we decided to celebrate a birthday "at home" in our hotel. For a change from hotel breakfasts we all enjoyed the Denny's a block or so away.

If you are lucky enough to stay here, make time for a nightcap on the roof terrace (excellent bar) to enjoy watching the Tokyo SkyTree Tower change colours.

This is ideally located for the Senso-ji temple. Also right next to the Asakusa underground and is the end of the Ginza Line.

Rooms were good and secure.

Breakfast was good and they had stopped the buffet due to the Covid 19 virus and served the food separately, French toast and eggs benedict were both good.

Staff could not have been more helpful and professional.

We were so surprised by this hotel! We chose Asakusa due to the lower prices, as it is a bit further out from the most popular areas of Tokyo (Shibuya, Shinjuku). It is, however, very close to Ueno and Akihabara. The main lobby is on the 13th floor and we were blown away when the elevator doors opened. This hotel has a stunning view of the surrounding area, which includes Senso-ji and Tokyo Skytree. The 14th floor has a rooftop patio for guests, which is a beautiful and relaxing space to sit at the end of the day.
The room itself was a decent size and larger than we expected, though still on the smaller side with two large suitcases. The rooms were bright with lots of amenitites.
We liked the added security measure of room keys being needed to select guest floors in the elevator. There's also lots of convenience stores nearby, so we never needed to eat in the restaurant. A short walk to the right of the hotel is a train station that will take you all over Tokyo, making it super easy to travel around. If I ever make it back to Japan, I would definitely stay here again.
