We stayed here for 7 days/6 night over Thanksgiving week. We chose this inn in Yanaka because we wanted something different from our last hotel in downtown Tokyo, and we love it! We especially love the wonderful and meandering side streets and quaint neighborhoods, the...More

Affordable, clean, nice rooms, conveniently located, great area to stay in, nice hosts, free internet. Could go on but the message is clear; highly recommended!

This hotel, actually a Japanese ryokan (mattresses on the floor), is a 10 minute walk from the Nippori Station which is on the Tokyo Loop and the JR Yamanote line as well as a direct stop from the Narita Airport and two stops from Ueno...More

I picked this place because it was a ryokan and in an old Tokyo neighborhood. I stayed five nights in a large (the larger of two options) Japanese-style room and private bath. The owner was very helpful with directions and recommendations. Best of all was...More

Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa.
Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit
a variety of different museums and galleries. At
Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the
grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed
alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at
the end of the year, when many people go on shopping

You can walk there from Nippori station. Actually most of the way is via pedestrian-only street, so if you don't carry too much luggage, it's worth walking anyway. Otherwise take a taxi (we took one from Tokyo station).
