This hotel was just what we wanted and we got everything that we paid for. It is very basic in the sense that you will have to buy your own soap or pay for TV (only things included are the towels really) but that wasn't a problem for us who barely spent time at the hotel anyway. It was very...

I went Tokyo few days ago and stay in this hotel. It's located at Asakusa, where near the subway station :Tawaramachi . You can just walk to sensoji by 10mins, and take the subway to Ueno station only 10mins as well. So from Narita airport won't take u lots of time. Also, if you want to go to the skytree,...

I was expecting the rooms to be small but not this small. I booked a double room but this was still the smallest hotel room I've stayed at in all of Asia. The bed took up most of the room, leaving a tiny walkway around the bed. The bathroom sink is tight against the shower, so you will have a...

I stay in this hotel because Halal Media Japan website recommends this hotel as a Muslim Friendly Hotel in Asakusa. As the only room left was only the standard small double room when I booked, then I choosed this room and it's disaster if you are staying with your family (I stayed with my mom). The room is very SMALL!...

I stayed here only for one night in a twin room. The hotel and the room was trendy and clean. The main staffs at the reception were fluent with English and could communicate very well. There were some items that you might need to rent (with some costs) since they were not available in the room; however, I didn't rent...

We found the staff to be very helpful and polite (everyone we encountered spoke English, which is a plus). We booked through Wotif and got a very good price on our room, which they kindly upgraded to a larger one when we checked-in. Due to this having to purchase tebags etc. was not an issue and we thought it was...

Good: Nice, clean, friendly staff Not so good: You have to pay to get body wash, shampoo, conditioner and more; just wanted to save you a surprise Location: Close to Ginza Line (Tawaramachi station), multiple convenience stores nearby. Comments: Super close to the station, like, a minute walk from one of the exits, so 10/10 for the location department. Do...

This place is great. The room is the perfect size for one person (keep in mind that the Japanese build up, not out, like westerners do, so the rooms are small by western standards). The staff are friendly and speak English well. The hotel is a short walk from several convenience stores and a main shopping/resteraunt area, and an even...

Our first time in Tokyo. Great location and friendly staff. Subway right around the corner so easy access to tourist sights. Plenty of dining options only a short walk - western and local. Staff handled all our questions, clean cosy room. Would have liked toast/cereal/perhaps more fruit as part of continental breakfast- options were a bit limited and never changed...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
