The room is great for the location! From Ueno station to figure out how to haul the luggage with no stairs was a bit of a pain, plus it was pouring. Its a little like so near yet so far. Everything else is so convenient as its just literally minutes away if you found the right exit! Supermarket within the...

I stayed for three nights when visiting the city. The staff was very nice, and the room was fine, if a little small by western standards. Tea, coffee in the room was nice. The breakfast was only Japanese style. It was very good but too rich for every morning. I would recommend that the Hotel include at least bread, cereal...

Good location to stay to catch skyliners to the airport, just next to ueno station and very close to minimart, restaurants , department stores and shooping streets. Compared to twin room at Hotel Sunroute Stellar Ueno nearby, I love twin room and amenities here more. It's cheaper , more spacious and wifi signal is stronger. Mini bar includes Japanese tea...

Although the rooms are tiny they are spotless and well maintained. The location is fantastic too. Lots of great restaurants in the area. Only negative is the view from our room was the wall of the building next door

Tiny rooms but very clean and close to the station. Good japanese style breakfast. Very handy location with lots of restaurants nearby. Stayed for easy trip to the airport the following day. Staff speak reasonable english and very friendly to our kids.

You can't beat the location and the price for this hotel, and while those are really good reasons to stay here, nothing compares to the quality and service that Hotel New Ueno provides. It was my first trip to Japan with my girlfriend and we were a little intimidated by the size and scope of our first Japanese city. Hotel...

The location and price are two best elements for this hotel. Staying at Ueno is very convenient if you don't bother going to Shinjuku. I picked this hotel as I was staying over in Tokyo for two nights on my way to Fukushima by train. You have to expect very small room, which is the norm in Tokyo for this...

Stayed for 1 night in a single room. Reception was friendly and spoke some english. After check in, you will get a coffee card that you can redeem coffee from the lobby area. Room was small, toilet and bed was clean. Breakfast was a good spread in Japanese style. Taste was quite good. Overall, given the location, it was worth...

very good location, walk only few minutes from Ueno JR station. clean & good service & hospitality, very helpful, though limited English language skill. only few things need to improve, 1. toilet/bath room size is very small 2. hotel facility is somewhat very limited, nothing much. Apart from this, I highly recommend this hotel, with good value & location.

My son and I stayed at Hotel New Ueno between 7-8th July. It is conveniently located, within 5 minutes walk of the Ueno Train Station. The room that we stayed in was compact, and tastefully furnished. We chose this hotel due to it's proximity to the Train Station, which was great for catching early trains. The room was not being...

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
