We stayed in one of the themed Family Rooms at $355 per night for 3 nights. Frankly, we would not stay at this hotel again at the rate we paid. Negatives: no hot water available in the evening on two occasions; smoking allowed in some areas of hotel including the floor with Family Rooms so there is smoking odor coming...

LOST IN TRANSLATION Japan really needs to have more years (lifetime) of English education and integration. 99% of everything written and spoken are in Japanese. Personally, I think it's rude. My country learns English as 2nd language. English speakers learn other languages. The Japanese should learn at least English. At the very least, Japanese who work in the tourism industry...

This is a great location as short walking distance to metro station. We stayed here overnight. The room was incredibly small and the bathroom was the size of a cupboard yet had a lot of toiletries. For an overnight stay it doesn't matter the size really. We had booked a double room but got two single beds. We both had a...

The hotel is nearby Kensei line which is the direct station to Narita Airport. The room is better than other business hotel which gives a view to the street. The room had a balcony which is excellent. The free in room internet is fast. Sure will stay there again.

We had the room that slept 5 of us and it was great. Had a separate toilet to the bathroom and it had an outdoor area with a tub. We only stayed one night and it was raining so we didn't use the outside tub. Room was clean and comfy bed. Breakfast was also good. We would stay at this...

First and foremost, potential visitors should note that this hotel is located in the red light district. Upon entering the hotel's reception we were greeted by a pair of birds and gold fishes. Very odd but could be charming to some? (We made our booking through agoda and did not see any reviews that mentioned it was in the red...

Let's start Cons followed by Pros. Cons: 1. The room is really tiny. I booked a double room (not the smallest among its rooms) which is supposed to accommodate 1-2 persons, but the room is really tiny even with me as the only person who stays there. I am not claustrophobic, but the limited space left in the room (between...

Good value hotel for Tokyo, and very close to metro. Rooms are small for western standards but expected for Japan. Bathroom is small too, but works well, excellent toilet. Toiletries are provided and very generous. Lots of choice of different soaps and creams. Balcony available to for the room and has good view of downtown Akihabara from a distance.

Staying in Ueno, Asakusa

Neighbourhood Profile
Ueno, Asakusa
Traces of the history and culture of the Edo (old Tokyo) era remain vividly in Ueno and Asakusa. Spacious Ueno Park is a great place to relax and visit a variety of different museums and galleries. At Ameyoko which starts in front of Ueno station, the grocery stores and clothing shops are crammed alongside fishmongers. It gets particularly busy at the end of the year, when many people go on shopping sprees. The town of Asakusa, developed around Sensoji temple, has many shops selling goods and clothing from old Japan, making it a great place for souvenir hunting. It's also known for various annual festivals, and the whole district gets involved with the huge Sanja Festival in May.
