Whilst I appreciate that some money is being spent on restaurant and bar and is ongoing, it is absolutely no excuse for dirty bedrooms. I was given a different room eventually which was an improvement but still had a damp smell which was surprising as there was no shortage of fresh air from the ill fitting door with a window...

Nice cosy room and good pub too! It was a busy time for them as I stayed during the Bath and West show, but staff remained friendly and helpful. Also good central location. The only downside was that I had dinner here and it was really over cooked. Would stay here again though.

We returned to The George, having stayed before, and found the hotel to be totally refurbished downstairs; it was beautifully done and very in-keeping with the gorgeous old features of the building. All round a great weekend away, food was excellent, catered for everyone including the children; I can highly recommend the porridge for breakfast, best I have ever had!

A buzzing little hotel in this friendly tiny town in Somerset. We took our ten year old daughter and she was warmly welcomed. The bar was busy but the waitress wasted no time getting us a table and taking our orders. The marlin was very tasty, as was the tofu, while our daughter had a starter as a main. Very...

First time visit here, so glad we found such a gem of a place in a beautiful setting, dog friendly too! Menu at first looked (almost) too good to be true, but excellent, inventive, well presented but without trying to be to clever! Lively bar, and very amenable staff. Superb breakfast to boot! Downside? They stop serving food early (8.30)...

Enjoyed another great weekend at the George. Dan and his staff always look after us from breakfast through to final night cap. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. All in all, the George is a great base to enjoy the many delights on offer in Somerset from the cricket to the cider. The hotel has enjoyed a refurb since our...

I have enjoyed the pleasure of staying at the George each year for a few years now as it is the chosen location to catch up annually with a group of friends. Despite not having reviewed this hotel on TripAdvisor before, the welcome has always been excellent, the rooms comfortable enough for my needs and the hearty breakfast continues to...

We often lunch at The George and almost always the quality and value of the food and wine are very good. Regrettably, on the last few occasions standards have been slipping and food, service and ambience are poor. This has been partly but not entirely related to the continuing and intrusive refurbishment. This appears to be concluding in the downstairs...

I have stayed at the George 2 or 3 times before but on this occasion they were renovating and the floor of the main area had been taken up. Entry was restricted, sometimes to a small path round the room, sometimes to the back door. The inconvenience and the lack of ease made this a less than stellar experience. Had...

Dined here with friends in the midst of a music quiz night. The premises was heaving with people. We ate in the restaurant and the food was disappointing after a previous excellent meal last year. I had a duck breast starter which was expensive and very small and dry. The Vietnamese curry was beef in large chunks which were tough...
