We arrived for lunch and to stay the night. Rates are reasonable for the rooms. The rooms are quite small but very clean and comfortable. We booked the Chardonnay room for a private function, a Beautiful room with amazing views. We were very pleased with the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was excellent.

Had a Christmas work turn paid large amount of money for the privilege , great view and location but terrible service, only 2 staff serving 80 people and food was average with some alcohol running out as early as 8.30 pm (we booked till 11.00 pm.) Manager behind bar wanted us out and was not accommodating turning gas off to...

I can't recommend Mornington Star Estate highly enough..I have had the pleasure of dining there on 2 occasions over last year and it was impeccable. The Estate is absolutely stunning , with spectacular water views and the most beautifully manicured gardens that extend as far as the eye can see, in every direction.. May partner and I had a few...

It was my sisters wedding on the weekend. It was a beautiful day and beautiful scenery. She had a horrible planning process with the change of hands of wedding coordinator 3 times. She could not get a call back anytime and was always chasing them. Come the day of the wedding we were told that following the wedding we were...

We chose a couple of local Mornington...

I have had the pleasure of having leisurely lunches here on more than one occasion. The service has always been good. The food has also always been good. But it is the setting that is the real draw card. I was disappointed to see there was not a local Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay on the wine list last time (still great...

The accommodation is in a converted boarding school, and it retains that aura. The rooms are very small, although clean. The shower was good. There was no television in the room, which is fine if you prefer to walk or read. The view from the room was merely of other parts of the building, although I'm sure there must be...

Teresa, many thanks for your comments which have been taken on board by management. Our accommodation wing was the original dormatory of the property when it was a (naughty) boys home - and as such the rooms have retained their original size (minus the bars on the windows!). We feel our prices are quite reasonable for what we offer compared...

I am a previous function venue owner, and also previous patron of the restaurant. I used to live in Mt.Eliza and also been privileged to have walked the lovely grounds and eat in the restaurant which I enjoyed. At this particular wedding there was a long gap between the service and the function. As there were no drinks or canapés...

Louise, many thanks for your comments which have been duly noted by management. I would like to address some of the issued you have raised: (1) the heat - whilst the venue did offer the bridal couple the option of an indoor ceremony (with cooling), the gardens were the draw-card and unfortunately this is an exposed area. (2) the lack...

We were really looking forward to a fabulous family lunch for my father's 95 th birthday. There is no doubt the setting was superb. However, there obviously weren't enough staff for a busy Sunday lunch. We waited ages for service before and during the meal. The few staff were friendly, but spread too thin. The food was disappointing and not...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In early 2002 the original dormitory rooms of the historical "Morning Star Boys' Home" were modified to create a 20 room Guest House. Originally there were 30 dormitory rooms with communal facilities; these were altered by converting every second room into two en suites. Formerly the dormitory rooms housed 4 or 6 boys, and were kept small due to structural requirements. However you don't live in your rooms when visiting Morning Star Estate, there are beautiful garden areas and vineyards around the estate waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Our rooms are modest yet priced fairly. The Guest House consists of 15 Double Rooms (with double bed), 4 Queen Rooms and 1 Queen Spa Suite (with queen bed or twin beds), all have their own en suites. For socialising and relaxation we provide Guest Lounges and various outside areas for enjoying the scenery. ... more   less
