Absolutely charming boutique hotel, with terrific rooms and restaurant. If you want to be in a busy city center, don't pick this hotel. This location is suburban, on the water, with gorgeous views ... yet still very easy to get into metro-Zurich by speedy rail. The hotel offers a free shuttle between the hotel and local train station. Staff is very friendly and we were on a first name basis with the front desk, waiters, and bartenders within 24-hours.

Amazing food, great location, sleek and modern rooms, small but cozy spa. Bartender and choice of non-alcoholic options is great. Very disappointing, mediocre front staff service, no extra effort, I would expect it from a 3* hotel. Limited knowledge and no desire to please the customer, offering or finding solutions (basic! like transport, museum tickets). I would always prefer staying in Storchen instead if this does not change - it is a different league.

Modern and large rooms facing the lake, ours with a very convenient fully equipped kitchenette. Large bathroom, with comfy towels and bathrobes We came laste minute with a dog, and everything was arranged quickly. Very profoessional and polite staff. Excellent and complete breakfast buffet. Parking on site, with valet parking. Very nice surroundings, greens and parks around Just 10 minutes by car to Zürich downtown - or by hotel private boat shuttle

I visited Alex Lake for a company event. The hotel is very nicely designed and the location on the lake is very nice but this is where it ends. I was shocked by the food mainly, which is overpriced. I had pasta for lunch. The meal was not balanced- oily, tomatoes not cooked out, pasty pine nuts. The eggs Benedict were cooked well but flavourless and the muffin was not toasted so was dry and crumbly. The worst was the dinner dry over cooked beef which was cold… and the same (heated up?) meal was served the next day?! Not what you expect from a venue of this calibre. The waiter kept disturbing us during our meal and lastly the bar was supposed to close at 12:00am, but when we turned up at 11:45pm the barman was already cleaning up and said the bar was closed. He still served us but reluctantly. Again- not acceptable in a hotel of this calibre and this price tag! Wouldn’t recommend. …

We booked the penthouse for our stay and this hotel was extremely modern and spacious. It had a huge balcony overlooking Zurich and the lake and also one from the bedroom where you could see the alps. Lovely staff and overall a great stay. I would recommend this hotel.

Absolutely superb! The hotel has a most beautiful situation on Lake Zurich and has a light and airy aspect. On arrival we were met by friendly and helpful staff who showed us to our rooms. All were spacious and very well appointed. From the personalised welcome card to the extraordinarily comfortable bed and pillows, this felt like an oasis of calm. The restaurant sits on the edge of the lake, and at breakfast, which was superb, the view towards the mountains was stunning. I really appreciated the quiet but friendly staff who made my stay so wonderful, all capped off with a gift of some delicious chocolates… well done Hotel Alex you are a wonderful place to stay!

I stayed at the Alex Lake hotel, near Zurich, right at the border of Zurich Lake. From the moment you enter the hotel, you experience the friendliness off the staff. The hotel rooms are spacious and the beds sleept very well. If you don’t want to stay right in the city center of Zurich but still close (the hotel has a service the brings you to the train station (5 minutes) with the train it’s only 10 minutes and you’re at Zurich main station). All in all a wonderful stay

My wife and I recently spent several days here. The quality of the property is as you’d expect from a R&L hotel - excellent. The location is a bit isolated, but being right on the lake more than makes up for it. The restaurant was excellent as well - both dinner and breakfast. Our room was lovely with high quality bedding and bathroom supplies. My only suggestion for improvement would relate to the outdoor smoking lounge - which we could smell from our room several floors above it. But the best part of the stay was the staff - they were exceptional and really made a difference to our stay. All were great but I would highlight Florian and Michael at the front desk, Luna in the restaurant and the bartender Ionnis (sp?).
