The location of this hotel is great when visiting Meteora monasteries. Kastraki is a very nice village and Sydney Hotel is conveniently located in the center with view to the mountains.
The hotel has free wifi that works in the rooms, lovely dining room and terrace.
The breakfast is classic continental, but very tasty; a good start in the morning.
The room we stayed in was very comfortable, with a small refrigerator, dressing, places to deposit the luggage, balcony with table and 2 chairs.
Bathroom has hair dryer, apart from the usuals.
The owners are lovely people, always ready to help.
The hotel has its own parking in the back yard.
Within 5 minutes walk there are 4 taverns to serve lunch/dinner.
We stayed here for 2 nights, we loved it and I strongly recommend this place when visiting the Meteoras, rather than Kalambaka.

my bf and i stayed here and found it to be the best priced value for money place weve stayed in so far on our europe trip. the owner angelo and his niece do a fantastic job. rooms are spotless, aircon is ice cold, the bus stop up to meteora is 20m down the road plus the view from the room is amazing. breakfast is basic but filling and fresh. seeing the aussie flag out the front was even a nice touch of home for 2 aussie backpackers

This is a new hotel in Kastraki, which is one of the two towns you can stay at close to the monasteries of Meteora. In my opinion Kastraki far outranks Kalambaka, the larger of the two towns. As you come into Kastraki the Sydney Hotel is on your left. Its a new hotel and the owner Angelo Bardas lived in Sydney Australia for many years, thus the name. Kastraki is right at the foot of the monasteries, and there are several good and authentic Greek restaurants and cafes within walking distance.
Our room was spotless, large, lovely balcony, and the owners were very helpful, spoke excellent English, and offered a very good experience.
The price of 40 euros per night including breakfast was excellent and far more reasonable than many other hotels in the region. Itwas great to have a boiled egg and ham added to the usual continental breakfast fare. There is also internet access in the lounge.
Highly recommended.

This is a simple, little hotel which was a pleasure to stay in.
The location is spectacular for the views and ideal for a quick journey to the Meteora.
The service is friendly and informative, and very welcoming.
The room was clean and bed comfortable, but not a lot of space. The bathroom itself was okay, a little rough round the edges but suitable for what we needed. Really, you would use this hotel as a stopping point to visit the local area, as opposed to spending your time in your room!
The breakfast was adequate. All in all, this place is great for its price!
I would suggest a visit to the Paradiso restaurant which is a very short walk up the road. Great food!!

Great location to stay while travelling to see the Meteora region and monasteries. We were travelling there with friends that recommended already the place and who were returning there. The staff is most welcoming, the room was comfortable and had a nice terrace. We departed quite early and had the hosts nicely prepare an early breakfast just for us. One great tavern to have dinner just next door as well as other taverns and shops in the immediate vicinity. Reservation possible without credit card. Cosy atmosphere, we felt like looking for shelter in an old times inn.

If you are a budget traveller then this place is recommended. If you are specific, picky and like all your needs met, then look away. Most of your time is (should be) spent looking at those breath-taking rock formations in Meteora, so even though the showers curtains didn't completely shield the water and made the floor a bit wet, I'm paying $33/night I remind myself; even though the small boxy tv didn't work, I was too tired from hiking with Mother Nature to want to watch Greek soap operas; wifi worked well. Everything was clean and tidy; decor is a little homey like going to your grandparent's home; it gave me a local feel.

Situated quietly away between Kastraki and Kalambaka, but only a 10-15 minutes brisk walk to the town centre, encouraging you to stroll through the quaint areas; Syndey is at the base of Meteora, and is very close to the bus stop to the Great Meteora and others. Kastraki deserves a walk-through for its local life feel. 5 minutes and 4 euros to the train station; more if you call for a taxi at 5 am, 7 euros.

Owner was nice and helpful, he may seem laid-back but he can get things done when asked. Breakfast cost 5 euros, cheaper if you booked it in advance with your accommodation. It was a lot of food, nothing spectacular, but good enough for your morning hike, I even brought the extra apple I couldn't finish as a snack. Next door is a tavern, decently priced, offering almost all typical Greek food and some more.

note: i was a solo female who has had backpacking/hostel experience; there isn't any hostels in Kalambaki or Kastraki. I felt safe day and night. Might get a bit dark on the roads walking from Kalambaka, but I was more concerned with reckless drivers than anything else.

I would come back!

As close to Meteora as you can get without staying at one of the monasteries. Quiet, exceptionally clean with warm, friendly owners and their family. You just can't help loving Angelo, the owner. One of the best values for you money in Greece!

This hotel is well situated for a visit to Meteora. It is only a 10 minute walk from the KTEL station in Kalambaka; the hotel can be found right as you enter the quaint village of Kastraki from this road.

We opted to walk to the Monestaries from there (though the bus up is right across the street). Our hosts were also very helpful in helping us find information on proceeding to our next destination, also by bus.

The room was fair sized, and the balcony was pleasant with chairs and table and a nice view. The internet could be a bit spotty at times, but for our purpoes this was fine. Breakfast was nothing elaborate, but tasty and plentiful. We could not have asked for more!

The owners were extremely kind, welcoming, informative, and very very helpful. The location is perfect for visiting the monasteries of Meteora and you can see the rocks/cliffs right from the room's window. The rooms are clean, air conditioned, and well kept. Breakfast is freshly made. Any kind of problem you may have, ask the owners and they are more than happy to help (we know from personal experience). I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone wishing to visit the region. For my next trip to Meteora, I am booking my stay with them.

"Rooms with great views of Meteora are also on the road and therefore very noisy. Think about which is more important if you want to request a room. Breakfast is good, but isn't included (5EUR). Compared with what we saw in the local village, the 5EUR was worth it."
