Unlike our last visit, the only 'event' this time was that I had booked a twin room in error instead of a double. This was corrected by the owners within minutes and we were given the family room (No. 1) instead. The rest of our stay was routine. The room was pristine, the breakfast outstanding and the cost of our...

We stayed at the Buck over the new year. We were made to feel very welcome. Our room was clean, tidy, well equipped and had a good view of the village. The bed was very comfortable. Sadly we didn't have our evening meal at the Buck. Reeth regulars, we met up with friends. However, next morning, the breakfast was impressive,...

A midway stopping point on a family drive to Scotland turned into a ooh and aah conversation of whether or not we should actually proceed. The village is lovely and because of a lovely evening all the buildings were lit up by the sun and slowly our small but perfectly formed pub filled with walkers of all shapes, sizes and abilities....

Booked this hotel when I found myself unexpectedly stranded in Richmond. The owners are extremely welcoming. The room was comfortable and gave me a good nights rest, which just what I needed. The breakfast was great and fueled me for the rest of the journey.

From arriving here this afternoon the welcome and feeling here's has been so friendly. The Pizza for tea was delicious. Places like this need nurturing. Proper country pubs are getting scarce and this is a beauty. The surrounding countryside is beautiful. A great place or hiking, cycling, birdwatching and other outdoor activities. All finish with a great pint and a...

Ordered the lamb shank, £16.50 worth of heaven was what we expected in the Yorkshire Dales. What arrived was tasty, but surely a child's portion. The landlord, Roy, asked us how it was and when we told him he merely explained that he had no control over what was supplied to him!! He offered some more curly kale, that was...

We were recommended to eat here by our wonderful host Vicki (The Laurels) and we weren't disappointed. Roy Julie and the staff work very hard to make sure you enjoy your visit here and they did a fantastic job. We didn't book, which I recommend you do, for evening meals Friday and Saturday night and somehow they managed to fit...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Buck Hotel is a former Coaching Inn which dates from circa 1760 and is located at the village of Reeth's main cross roads and where a turnpike was in operation two centuries ago. The C2C goes past the front door, so the Buck is very popular with walkers. The Buck retains its traditional oak beamed bar with interesting horse brasses and an amazing collection of door knockers! Plus the tour de France passed the front door in 2014 so has now become very popular with cyclists. With an excellent reputation for real ales and ciders the Buck has been awarded the 2015/16 Cask Marque [for quality Real ales] and is featured in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2015.There is a good and varied menu with daily specials, which includes everything from Steaks to Fish & Chips and Game when in season. If you like a whisky, there are over 50 to choose from and the wine list is very popular. Dogs are welcome and there is overnight storage for cylcles. With a roaring log fire, the Buck offers the genuine Yorkshire welcome. ... more   less
