Had an idilic weekend away at the porthole with my husband. A beautiful spot and the most amazing views. Breakfast on the terrace with views over the bay- free range eggs, toast, juice and coffee, just perfect! Great spot for walks to Whitby and runs wick bay as well as a short stroll to the pub and two gorgeous meals...

Our forth visit to the Porthole. What with one thing and another in our lives, our last visit was in 2011, and it was good to be back. On our last visit, the Porthole was just the one main room (+bathroom, and kitchenette), and we'd previously considered there was further potential to be unlocked in opening up the second room...

Thank you for your review, we must have opened the second room as a sitting room just after you visited last time. it certainly makes a difference, much more space to relax in and watch the sea. Dont leave it so long next time before you come back!!

My husband and I spent four days over the Easter break at the Porthole. It is an excellent place to unwind, very comfortable with outstanding views. It is so relaxing hearing the sea. The fresh bread and fresh eggs were a delight. There are so many wonderful walks from the doorstep too. Thank you Helen and Malcolm for letting us...

Spent three days at the Porthole recently and can only say what a relaxing place it is. Very clean, very comfortable and with views which I will never tire of. Also very well run with an unusual (but very good) take on the routine bed and breakfast deal. Would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing break. Well worth paying that little...

Just back from yet another lovely stay at Craigmore. It really is the best place to relax and unwind, we arrived as 2 slightly frazzled nurses and returned home fully relaxed and chilled. The house is cosy and warm no matter what the weather is like, squashy sofa and chairs and a lovely big comfy bed make it all very...

Thank you for your time writing a review, we love seeing all our guests, two and four legged ones. Amber our dog particularly likes the four legged variety - unless the two legged ones take her for a walk!! We look forward to seeing you again.

We had a lovely stay here in mid-February. Stunning views from the cottage, and a beautiful and comfortable interior. We loved the little details, the home made jams, the fresh eggs and bakery bread left for us. It was truly relaxing, thank you very much! We would highly recommend a stay.

Stayed in the Porthole in Feb - weather was great which heightened the stunning views over the beach. Great facilities in the apartment and we really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Sandsend itself has a great pub and 2 or 3 really great places to eat also.

This is about Craigmore cottage ONLY. Dear all, this is the first partially negative review I have placed in my time on trip advisor. Please ensure you understand if you don't have dogs then the reviews at five star would be fine BUT this is NOT a dog friendly cottage at all. Myself and my 80yr old mother arrived late...

From the moment I made the call to enquire about staying here (for my husband's 60th birthday) - my gut feeling told me it was going to be wonderful. Helen (who owns the property) was so helpful, even making a booking for us at a local restaurant The Cottage Bistro (for anyone staying here the restaurant is a must). On...
