My husband and I recently stayed at Paganakan Dii for 2 nights en route from KK to the Kinabatangan. The location is a five minute drive from the Orangutan sanctuary (free shuttle provided), but the location is secluded and peaceful with amazing sunrise and sunset views. The rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious. The staff was even greater, accommodating our...

My second time at Paganakan Dii; the facilities are rustic, but well-kept and nice. Location is a cute little oasis inside the oil palm monoculture. It definitely has a more backpacker-feel than many places in lowland Sabah...I've spent four nights here and most guests are younger Europeans and Australians.

We loved this rustic lodge on the hilltop, surrounded by jungle. It's out of the way and quiet except for jungle noises! We stayed in a ridge-top chalet - a basic wooden hut with a queen bed and single bunks, all with mosquito nets, and a private semi-open air bathroom. The deck offered views straight out over the jungle -...

My family and I loved this place. I liked that there was no wifi in the rooms. The view from the rooms was amazing and we loved sleeping in the cabins with the sounds of nature outside. Beds were comfortable and good clean bed linen. Only improvement would be the breakfast. Being in Sabah we would have loved to have...

We stayed here two nights in december and were the only ones there. We slept in the dorm and was a nice dorm with good mosquitonets. The toilets were ok, but lots of ants, so you had to be fast ;). Shower was cold, but good pressure. The staff really annoyed us. We were the only there and they were...

We were seduced by the effusive description in the Lonely Planet guide so our expectations were high, especially as the price was only 5RM less than we paid for a hotel with a swimming pool and really good buffet breakfasts and dinners included on this trip. The owners are splitting the hotel property from the adjacent deer park, which they...

We stayed in the cabins for 2 nights, place is really close to the nature so keep your mosquito repellent with you. Jungle is right there, it's a bit isolated but shouldn't be an issue if you have a car. Prices for food are reasonable, it's quite close to all the must sees - sunbear, orangutan, proboscis conservatories. Clean and...

This review is about the cabins so may differ from the dormitory experience. We had a great stay, the hilltop cabins are great and take you right close to nature, maybe to close for some? The views are amazing either from the balconies or the open air shower room! The food is limited but good quality and very reasonable. The...

No aircon..but fans quite good....the teachers area had a balcony and outdoor kitchen area which was great for a bit of down time and viewing local wildlife. We arrived early and asked to leave our bags there while we went off to visit a few places. The welcome was less than warm. On our return we were showed to our sauna. Yes, the view is lovely, but the aircon and the fan showed less interest in our arrival than the staff. The bed was very comfortable. The...
