I visited Rancho Margot with a friend and we stayed in the bunkhouse which was great. We slept with mosquito nets which we're actually really quite comfortable and fun :) The grounds are amazing. We took a tour of the place when we arrived to see how everything worked. Wow! These guys know what they are doing. They grow all...

Great food, nice staff, farm and beautiful land! For 270 a night we had a gorgeous cabin with a view. Sounds great right ? Wrong !! On our tour we find animals chained up and caged brutally. The pigs raised for meat are jammed into cages with metal floors far from nature. They never get to come out! The cows...

Thank you for your comments. We are glad you found the food great, the staff nice, our farm & land beautiful, and your bungalow gorgeous. We are sorry about the coconuts... Your other comments are simply not accurate and a more detailed response is needed: We are 100% committed to the humane treatment of all animals. Raising animals to be...

I was recommended this place by a friend who lived in La Fortuna for a while. I was not disappointed. Rancho Margot is a sustainable ecolodge that is quiet and secluded in the mountains. There are activities to do at the lodge that are included in the rate, and there are trails through forest. The lodge is so beautiful and...

Really enjoyed it overall: the room was nice, good food, informative tour, great staff. But it is in the forest and it's focus on energy efficiency translates to a dark few days. The lighting was always dim, even mid afternoon. Hard to read at night in the rooms too. But otherwise it was great.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us and we are glad you enjoyed. Looking back to the weather during your stay, we did experiencing several days of consistent over-cast and rain, and yes, it was a indeed dark inside and out. As to our indoor space, we use high efficiency bulbs throughout the common areas, work space and guest...

Rancho Margot is truly a fascinating place. It is a working organic farm, that truly lives by the working philosophy of reducing its carbon footprint. The farm produces its own electricity, recycles its waste, and all the food in its restaurant (which is incredibly delicious) is farmed right there — from chickens and pigs, to vegetables, herbs and fruit. The...

The other reviews are correct in a lot of ways, but there are a few things that some people might like to know. There is no view of the lake or volcano from Margot. Make sure you are looking for a rugged, earthy experience. There is no A/C. The road to Margot was quite bad once you get off the paved...

The drive to Rancho Margot leaves no doubt you are in the rain forest. Beautiful and very rugged.
