Revisited Temple Sowerby House Hotel whilst on a short break with friends after several years away. If anything the Hotel is better than remembered. It is a (relatively) small very well run establishment offering food and accommodation of the highest order. Attention to detail is everything and the owners and staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. If you are looking...

Just returned from another fantastic break at Temple Sowerby House. This hotel is truly exceptional. The food it to die for, the rooms clean with everything you need including Molton Brown bathroom products and a spa bath, just what is needed after a day's walking. The owners, Paul & Julie are so professional and friendly, nothing is too much trouble....

Well, what a review! It's always rewarding when guests return to TSH and enjoy themselves just as much as the previous times. Consistency is the most difficult thing to achieve and we owe a debt to all our staff, who strive with us to maintain standards and provide that consistent level of service and hospitality. You're right that there is...

Booked this hotel as a gift for my husbands 50th birthday, after having read the excellent reviews. After a 2 hour drive, we were met by Julie, who greeted us in an unfriendly & abrupt manner by saying that the car was parked in the wrong place & that we were 1 hour early. She could have suggested a drink...

Well of course there are two sides to every story and certainly, in this case, the facts are rather different to those presented! However, we do not feel it is right to 'get personal' and so will refrain from commenting on that. Suffice to say that sometimes a poor review reflects more on the writer than the hotel! At least...

We booked this as a Secret Escapes Spring getaway. We concur with other reviews - this hotel is a hidden gem, gentile, set in delightful grounds. We received a friendly reception, including a tour of the hotel & gardens. Their breakfasts are good but their dinners excel, thanks to their chef (who we dubbed ATM - Ashley The Magnificent). We...

Many thanks for your comments and we're delighted you enjoyed your stay so much. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, when 'Ash the Magnificent' will have another superb menu to present! He changes the menu monthly to keep it as fresh as possible and take advantage of new seasonal produce, particularly from the garden. Herbs, elderflowers...

Four delightful days in the Lake District at TSHH was the icing on the cake. A warm reception and tour of the main function rooms followed by tea and biscuits served in One.of the comfortable and well furnished lounges. Our room was on the first floor,(no.1)with a comfortable bed , and additional settee together with all appropriate furniture. The ensuite...

Thank you so much for your time in writing a review...and such a nice one too! Your comments about the staff, in particular, are most welcome and we have passed them on. Looking after guests is a true skill and we encourage a sense of hospitality in our staff and it's good to know it's appreciated.

We were on our way to Scotland and stopped here and were very glad we did! It is a lovely hotel and we were made to feel very welcomed. Sometimes a country house hotel like this can be very stuffy and you wonder if they really want guests, but none of that here. Paul and Julie made us feel as...

Thank you so much for a lovely review! We have many people who stop at TSH for a stopover en route to Scotland, we're in the perfect spot and they can continue their journey in the morning refreshed and well-fed & watered! Hope to see you again soon.

Our first time here, a very civilised experience. Having been welcomed by the owners on our arrival we were shown to a really nice room with a sofa and an extremely good walk in shower: the restaurant / breakfast room has a huge set of bay windows looking onto the superbly kept garden with some cute ducklings in residence and...

Delighted you're already thinking of returning! We have many guests who come again and again, but it's always a pleasure when new guests come and enjoy themselves too and, hopefully, become regulars over time. The restaurant is certainly well-designed, with great views of our walled garden, wherever you sit. The ducklings are an added bonus during the summer - they're...

I did not stay at the hotel, but had a meal there with my parents who stayed a couple of nights. The rooms looked comfortable and my parents enjoyed it. The food was outstanding. Thank you for your kind words. It shouldn't be such a surprise to be shown around a hotel on your first visit but, sadly, this seems to be the case! We regard it as the first stage in hospitality that, hopefully, lasts throughout the stay. The ducklings are adorable, this is the seventh year running we've had a wild mallard...
