Well talk about striking lucky! 3 people were looking for a stopover in separate rooms having been to the Highlands. Firstly we were accommodated in double rooms at a price that was at the bottom of our budget. The welcome was friendly and it seemed nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were huge with all facilities that you would...

Although we only stayed one night. We wanted somewhere to stay that allows dogs. This is definately the place to stay if you want to take your dog away with you. The food is great, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, lovely walks from the b&b to take your dog and most of all the beds are really comfy....

The owners very kindly let me park up my campervan overnight as I was eating there, and had been let down by a previous arrangement. Good food, generous portion which was nicely presented, and lovely fire. Friendly, helpful staff and decent cider on draught....happy days 😊

Booked this on the spur of the moment for myself and my elderly client (who is disabled and has a learning disability), as a pre-Christmas treat. No warm welcome, a tall young lad wearing a woolly hat behind the bar was showing us where our room was, I asked if there was a lift as my client uses a walking...

The hotel itself has a bit of character I had a room at top of hotel which was fine but the small window from floor height made it feel a little dark. Thankfully had a good night’s sleep as very quiet after everyone had gone to bed. The plumbing is very loud though and floor boards very creaky but not...

Stayed last weekend with 9 mates ... first time we have stayed here. The rooms were all great - clean spacious and nicely decked out. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was superb - we had 2 great breakfasts and 2 really nice evening meals in the bar... plenty of choice - even had 4 vegetarian options...

My friend and I had a lovely stay in the Royal Hotel in Dockray while we were running the Lakeland Trail at Glenridding. The room was warm, cosy, clean and had everything we needed. The breakfast and evening meal were delicious and we would certainly stay again.

The food here was very delicious, sandwiches were a very good size with the ham being almost as thick as gammon! I had the soup of the day which was very filling and extremely tasty (red lentil and ham soup). I saw another table eating the meat platter/ploughman's and it looked very big and tasty!

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in October 2016 for one night on s b & b basis . I will be honest I was disappointed as we drove into the car park. The building exterior looks tired and in need of a lick of paint. But, my opinion changed once inside. The bar area, restaurant and cafe...
