Stayed here for 1 night.
Lovely building and had a room with Loch view which was gorgeous.
Our room was very spacious fitting 2 adults , 1 child and our dog in his crate with plenty of space. staff are lovely , food was nice but do find it and the drinks on the expensive side ( probably due to the location and remoteness ) but did meet our needs and would visit again if in the area .

Bar prices for food absolutely ridiculous . Service poor . Room is ok but hasn’t seen a lick of paint since 1920. Price between restaurant and bar is very similar- prices excessive for both. Staff unfriendly .

We were looking forward to a two-night stay in a 'luxury' hotel; we were extremely disappointed after our first night and cancelled the second night. We eat in the restaurant on the first night; the food was not prepared to a high standard and we felt it was very overpriced. Our room was in very poor condition: holes in the carpet, stains on the walls, black mould around the bathroom fittings, broken wardrobe, broken window fittings. The room and en-suite wasn't cleaned properly; after complaining we were told by a receptionist that it was cleaned to their housekeeping standards - we pointed out thick dust in the room, soap scum around the wash basin, and politely told them their standards were not acceptable. The room itself was noisy and we slept really badly. We've never before had accommodation that was so bad that we checked out early. Very disappointing experience, we expected more from Macdonald Hotels.

Had a lovely stay here in very comfortable surroundings stayed in room 109 with delightful views over the loch. Room spacious, comfortable and clean. Ate in restaurant where food was presented beautifully and quality of food was excellent. Also ate in the bar/lounge area and again food qualtiy and presentation was to a high standard. There is a pool and sauna and also a small gym on site which was relaxing whilst perhaps needing a little general maintenance. Staff very attentive and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed out stay. Lots of places to visit in the area and the surrounding countryside is beautiful.

Just spent a wonderful week at Lochrannoch village and decided to go for Dinner with friends on Sunday night (28th October) to the McDonald Loch Rannoch Hotel.
We arrived just before 7pm and went to the bar to order drinks before finding a table and ordering food,
As I ordered the drinks the barman informed me they had no ice?
But the girls in our company were happy enough to do without the ice,
So drinks were ordered and paid for,
However one of the glasses we were given was dirty and had lemon seeds in the bottom of glass,
It took the barman a good 5 minutes to change the glass,
And when he did it was roasting hot as it was obviously fresh out of the dishwasher, ( no apology for taking so long)
We then sat down at a table and started to look at the menu,
Right away a waitress arrived and her opening statement was,
“ if you want food you have 1 minute to order”
No explanation or any conversation from her as we hurriedly ordered 2 main coures,
No please or thank you from her as she turned away with the order in hand,
The food arrived quickly, but was average at best,
We did notice other people, ( maybe hotel residents ordering food a good 20 minutes after us)
We paid for food and decided to ask at reception if we could speak to the general manager,
The receptionist was very abrupt,
And said the GM was not available,
I then asked if she would let me have the managers name,
She was determined not to furnish me with his name,
I asked 3 times without being given his name,
And only when I said it would be easy to find out via the hotel website who the manage was,
Did she eventually give me his name,
At no point did she ask or show any interest on why I was asking,
I deliberated over going back to speak with the manager however having read other reviews on tripadvisor,
I believe this would have been a waste of time,
Don’t be fooled by the A Board on the hotel driveway, saying everyone welcome,
I have a very strong feeling if you are not a resident you are a nuisance to the staff,
I can fully understand if the hotel was busy but this was not the case,
I hate writing poor reviews as I always believe in the best in people,
However we were made to feel like 2nd class citizens from start to finish,
If you are thinking of going here for a meal and you are not a resident,
I would not bother.
If it was possible to rate the service as zero out of 5 I would have.

Nestled in the heart of the Highlands, the hotel is situated on the north shore above Loch Rannoch and the picturesque village of Kinloch Rannoch with majestic views of the loch and hills that are simply More breathtaking. The magnificent setting is the ideal location to enjoy a break away from busy lives or a romantic retreat. Steeped in tradition and rich in heritage, the hotel invites one to step back to a quieter time, while still enjoying the comfort of a superb hotel. Here at our Loch Rannoch Perthshire hotel we use only the freshest of ingredients to provide fantastic food, expertly prepared, in beautiful surroundings with superb service. And when you need to unwind, our Leisure Club is the ideal way to relax after a long day.
