Needs better cleaning conditions, because we find a lot of other's people's hair on the floors at our bedroom and wc. And the the cleaning staff replaced the sheets, but not the duvet covers with fresh blood stains (in both 2 beds) . Also, we booked for a suite with fireplace but the firewood was charged separately. It would be nice know about that before booked bt it does not make sense anyway. And about the food... poor quality food at breakfast and dinner. Do not waste your money eating there. About the staff, we found a nice receptionist, but the other ones are rude for the guests (especially the cleaning staff)
Izan Hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet place surrounded by the nature, close to a river. It's the best place to relax for a few days. From the outside it is very beautiful, but the rooms - at least few one I was given - are pretty standard. Since there are no bars or restaurants nearby, we decided to have all our meals at the hotel. The food wasn't bad, but the service did have a lot of room for improvement.
An excellent hotel with friendly staff and good food in a truly beautiful setting. This was my first visit to this hotel and this part of Spain. The hotel has a pool and spa. It is also in a beautiful part of Spain,up in the mountains and a good place for walking and exploring.
People are friendly but facilities are tired particularly the Spa. You pay extra for the spa and quite frankly is not worth it. Children are only allowed in the pool at certain times. The place is rusty, steamroom is luke warm while sauna does not even have a bucket to poor in water. Jacuzzi is minuscule and pressure shower (only one in the place) only sprays your feet. Towels are in bad shape and changing rooms tiny. Restaurant is mediocre at best and pricey for what it is.
We spent one night in this hotel in a suite for a very affordable price. The main facility is an old house nicely redecorated. The room was nice ground floor and first floor bedroom on first floor but bathroom somewhat small. Staff is in general welcoming except the cook who has 0 flexibility on the timing. Do not arrive after 3:30 on for lunch "the kitchen closes at 4 pm" and no alternative. The lunch at restaurant was good and good price. One important not nice facility: the spa: No one to attend to explain how it works, the swimming pool was actually quite dirty, the sauna did not work properly and the hammam took 30 min to start (we had to guess how to start it). Again no help, no instructions. The overall spa facility is not well maintained nor very clean. Not nice at all.
We stayed here as part of the VaughanTown program as volunteers speaking Engkish to Spaniards. . Our room and board were free! For that price it is a terrific place. It has seen better days, nicks and scratches throughout but still nice. The mattress was rock hard and the pillows hard to use, but that is by the standards of wimpy Americans. The food ranged from just OK to good. The lounge area is quite nice and the setting is lovely. The staff were quite accommodating to our group. There were many flies but that may be seasonal. For travelers interested in hiking in the Gredos, this would be a good base. Even with the issues that have listed, this was a nice place to stay if you are willing to be flexible and do not expect luxury.
....but there are some foibles. Room 1208 is dangerous due to a 30cm square beam low across the entrance to the room and the bathroom. I don't think it would be certified elswhere. I was told there has been at least one accident there. The surprise for me was the attitude of the staff at reception. The attitude ranged from casual indifference to rude. Barstaff waitstaff all excellent. Food good. The setting and other facilities and condition of the rooms cleverly redeveloping an old ranch I think make this a good stay. I have to say it is not 4 star as it rates itself, but don't let any of the points above put you off. It's a good place to stay.
I stayed in room 2010, tucked away behind the lift on the second floor of the main building. Compared to the other rooms in the hotel, this was more like the servants quarters than a 4-star room! The floor was badly scratched, the furniture was a little tatty. In the bathroom 2 things were broken, but the staff quickly had them repaired. There were sloping beams, which felt extremely claustrophobic, both in the bathroom and bedroom. The skylight in the sloping ceiling let in light but no view, even when standing on the wooden block. Toiletries were definitely not 4-star quality. The shampoo/conditioner was unusable. The stairs from the reception area were always dirty and eventually out of bounds while work was being carried out on the first floor. The lift then broke down and we were obliged to use the stairs, in spite of the cordons on the stairs. The staff were sometimes surly, with the exception of the waiting staff in the restaurant. The reception area was pleasant and the grounds were spacious, although somewhat neglected. A 4-star hotel this is definitely not! The hotel is in a stunning setting, peaceful and near a beautiful river. There are snow-covered mountains in the distance and Nature is ever-present. Nature and the location of the hotel get a 5-star review! All-in-all a disappointing experience for a 4-star hotel. I wonder who does the inspections!…
We had hoped for more from this place and thought we had included breakfast but it was not. Upon arrival in a quite remote location, oddly past a ski resort and in early July snow still present in patches on the adjacent mountain tops. Stepping away from usual mid range hotel chains we prefer did not pay off. The pool attracted extra charges and wearing a swim cap (not provided or available to buy) was oddly compulsory! Breakfast too was an extra charge at 8/4 euros for adult/child. The accommodation was a two room affair in an adjacent block, bars on the window were an oddity where shutters were interior not exterior. The sofa bed was not at all comfortable with ridges and a poor mattress. The main bed was huge and very comfortable which offset this a little. Staff were very helpful but thin on the ground as they seem to combine roles and waits at the bar and reception because of this was common. Food was fair and good value, our Spanish is not as good as our French (conversational) but we got by easily enough with our ubiquitous phrase books. The grounds were overgrown and not tended well for a hotel of this grade as our walks around outside revealed. Parking was great and covered, another oddity was three or four Tesla charging points that I am sure are used every now and again. Perhaps the owner has one? Whilst picturesque and remote the extra charges and limited staff dropped my stars, with main hotel chains at least you know almost all is included. Perhaps it was a failure of our going through booking.com to see the extras we thought were included. A brief review of the website made no mention of pool charges or restrictions we came across. Others have mentioned staff shortages and it’s odd how immaculate it is indoors yet the outside seem a touch neglected. Again it was further off our route than we would have preferred, would we stay again? No. Though it may suit some. It didn’t suit us. …
2 hours outside of Madrid is a stunning hotel complex. Indoor pool, super accommodating for your needs great restaurant ask for Lola she is fun and a super server. Clean rooms and great hiking trails with beautiful walkways
