In the heart of the Albret country, King Henri IV's homeland, la Tour de Brazalem is nestled in the centre of the old medieval town of Nérac, a stones' throw from the River Baise, the Olde Bridge, Henri IV's castle and the Garenne park. The property consists of three old buildings which form a harmonious ensemble full of character: (1)two 13th. century shops converted into a dwelling and linked to (2)an old bourgeois house converted to a furnished hotel in the 19th. century and recently transformed into 4 bed and breakfast rooms and(3)the living area and the tower of a 16th. century mansion house fitted out as a small furnished studio and a charming B&B room with a panoramic view of the old town of Nérac and the River Baïse. Summer kitchen facilities available in the courtyard for outside dining. A haven of peace in the historical centre of Nérac

We stayed 4 nights at La Tour de Brazelem last week as we had a wedding to go to nearby. The town of Nerac and the surrounding area looked quiet and sleepy at first but we found beautiful spots full of charm, beauty and interest all around! The tower suite, which we stayed in, up a spiral staircase with its stone walls and beamed ceiling looked quaint and scary but we loved it. It had all the charm of a 15th century tower with all the necessary modern touches designed for a pleasant stay. Isabel, the proprietor, is very kind and welcoming and a wealth of information about the local area. Points of interest:
- Breakfast was superb! Fresh bread and croissants with home made jams and cheeses and freshly brewed coffee and tea. Isabel makes a point of sitting with you and helps you plan your day ahead.
- Parking: once you get to know the immediate around around the place, you can find plenty of places to park for free.
- Wifi: we found it a bit hit and miss.
- Places to see: market day on Saturday in Nerac is a must see. Nearby villages and their main squares dating back to 14th & 15th centuries, especially Fources, is absolutely gorgeous.
- Food & drink: well you are in Bordeaux in June! Fantastic fruits, breads and pastries and of course wine. Prices of food and drinks in bars and restaurants were reasonable and local wines, very drinkable, quite cheap.
Highly recommended.

It was a bit tricky to find La Tour de Brazalem chambre d'hote as Rue L'ecole was tiny and steep. We finally parked at the church and walked over - and ended up leaving the car there for our overnight stay. It's about a 100m walk through small alley-type streets but the house exterior was lovely, Madame was very nice, and our ground-floor room clean and pretty with a massive bathroom (turquoise blue bath fixtures - tub, toilet AND sink!). We were offered a drink and given information about the town and dinner recommendations all of which could be easily accessed by walking. The room had a kettle with coffee and tea, and free wifi. The bathroom had soap and shampoo. It was quiet at night and we slept good but otherwise it's very easy to hear all the normal noises one expects in a family house complete with other guests, visiting children and grandchildren. In the morning the breakfast was typical French style and very good. Madame showed us the backyard and garden with the tower from Henry the IV th days which, if I understood correctly, used to have secret tunnels to the chateau! She's had a beautiful chambre d'hote room built into the very top of the tower (not available in winter due to high heating costs) - and it's really lovely. I would want to stay in it if I returned here again. Nerac is quite interesting with many historic buildings and a bridge; a nice medieval town by the river Baïse centred around Henri IV's chateau of which only one, but a beautiful one, wing still stands.

Lovely welcome with a cup of tea and secure parking for our bikes in the back garden. Living with the owner in her home is very comfortable and the room we used was well equipped and comfortable. Bed provided a good night's sleep, quiet location, tea and coffee with a kettle and a fridge in the room was a surprise.
The ensuite was ok, the shower was very small and needed a new screen, but it all worked well and there was a good supply of hot water.
Breakfast was great with a view of the garden. This would be served outside in fine weather.
The town centre is just a short walk away, steeped in history to discovert, lots of Henry IV facts to find and local restaurants to chose from.
Thank you to Isablel for a great stay, hope to see you again one day.

Built around the end of the XIVth century, la Tour de Brazalem is well worth the stay as other reviewers indicate. The room we had was comfortable, pristine and quiet despite being on the street side. There is an interior courtyard and garden giving access to the more expensive but surely more authentic rooms within the tower. The location is ideally located in the centre of the old town and we parked on the other side of the old bridge with no problem. A hidden gem to be recommended!

We booked here for one night in June to break our journey further south. We had no expectations from the town or accommodation but we were in for a treat on both counts. The chambre d'hote is run by Mme Gavaud who is hospitality personified. She made us feel very welcome without being intrusive. The room was basic but very comfortable and the breakfast was superb with local produce served in a historic garden when Madame and her friend told us of the comings and goings of Henri IV as a young man. Nerac itself is so picturesque and beautiful to stroll around. The icing on the cake was an open-air concert in the town square preceded by a beautiful meal in restaurant l'Art de Vivre
